A recent online listing for a pre-owned McLaren 720S in Hanoi, Vietnam, has sparked interest among automotive enthusiasts. The 2018 model, with over 15,000 km on the odometer, is being offered for sale at a price of over 8 billion VND, and it’s generating quite the buzz online.
While the price tag of over 8 billion VND is certainly attention-grabbing, it’s the vehicle’s license plate, 30M-355.55, that has people talking. It’s unlikely that a supercar with such a prestigious plate would linger long in the showroom. However, it’s possible that the plate was added for display purposes, and the car itself may bear a NG or CV plate, explaining the incredibly attractive price.
Other McLaren 720S models with white plates are currently trading for no less than 12 billion VND. In contrast, those with CV (Official) or NG (Diplomatic) plates are available at more competitive prices, ranging from 8 billion to 9.2 billion VND, depending on the car’s condition and the remaining validity of the registration.
In terms of design, the McLaren 720S boasts an impressive appearance with its LED headlights and daytime running lights. The headlight housing also serves to channel air to the sides of the car, and a front underbody spoiler helps stabilize the supercar at high speeds.
The iconic butterfly doors of the McLaren family are featured on the 720S, enhancing the car’s aesthetic appeal and facilitating easier entry and exit from the vehicle. They also contribute to the striking appearance of this British supercar.
The attention to detail on the McLaren 720S is evident in elements like the side air intakes and door latches, which are discreetly integrated into the butterfly door design. At the rear, the supercar sports slender LED taillights, the thinnest in the McLaren range.
The appeal of the McLaren 720S lies not only in its stunning looks but also in its powerhouse engine. Under the hood is a V8 engine with a displacement of 4.0 liters, once the most powerful in the world. Codenamed M840T, this engine generates an impressive 720 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, rivaling the performance of larger V12 engines found in cars like the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4.
According to McLaren, 41% of the M840T engine’s components are brand new. This engine is paired with a 7-speed SSG dual-clutch transmission, enabling the McLaren 720S to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and decelerate from 100-0 km/h in 2.8 seconds.
But that’s not all; the McLaren 720S can sprint from 0-200 km/h in 7.8 seconds, reach 300 km/h in 21.4 seconds, and complete a quarter-mile in 10.3 seconds. It has a top speed of 341 km/h, leaving speed enthusiasts in awe.
