Tesla has recently introduced a mobile charging station system called Megapack Chargers to alleviate the overload during peak times such as holidays at fixed Supercharger stations.

This mobile charging station is, in fact, a tractor-trailer, carrying mini charging stalls with a capacity of 3 MWh, enough to charge approximately 75 cars per day through 8 charging columns with a power output of 250 kW each.

The Megapack Chargers are capable of connecting to Starlink to provide stable service and can be recharged at Supercharger stations during off-peak hours, such as at night.

It is understood that this Megapack Chargers system will be available at four locations in four cities across different states.

These Megapack Chargers cost approximately $1 million each and weigh up to 38 tons. They are considered not only a flexible solution but also a showcase of advanced technology in optimizing the charging network of the electric car giant, Tesla.

In late November, Tesla’s Supercharger network in North America set a new record by delivering 12 GWh of electricity in a single day, enough to charge over 300,000 Tesla vehicles.

Currently, Tesla has 60,000 Supercharger stations worldwide. The company is not only developing this charging network for its electric vehicles but also sharing it with other automotive brands such as Ford, Rivian, General Motors, Volvo, Polestar, Nissan, and Hyundai through the NACS adapter.

Tesla plans to deploy the V4 charging stalls in 2025, which will increase the charging speed to 500 kW for the Cybertruck and 1.2 MW for the Tesla Semi.
