The governmentโ€™s 50% registration fee incentive continues to have a positive impact, with Vietnamโ€™s total vehicle sales in October increasing by 6% from the previous month and a substantial 53% year-on-year, reaching 38,761 units.

The MPV segment recorded total sales of 4,709 units in October, higher than most other months this year. However, compared to September, the sales of affordable MPVs decreased by 12%.

The โ€œMPV Kingโ€ Remains Dominant Despite a Slight Dip

In October, the Mitsubishi Xpander witnessed a decline in sales to 2,131 units, a 20.7% decrease compared to the previous month. Nevertheless, this is the second consecutive month that the model has sold over 2,000 units.

As of the end of October, Mitsubishi Vietnam has delivered 15,087 Xpanders to customers. With sales in the thousands, this MPV is sure to be among the best-selling models in the market for 2024.

Following the Xpander is the Toyota Veloz, which also experienced a sales dip in October, reaching 1,061 units. However, this is still an impressive performance compared to previous months, where sales consistently surpassed the 1,000-unit mark.

Since the second quarter, both of these popular models have been subject to continuous promotions from their manufacturers to enhance their competitiveness. In November, Mitsubishi is offering cash discounts or support with registration fees for its entire product range in Vietnam, including the โ€œMPV Kingโ€ Xpander.

Specifically, customers purchasing the Xpander AT Premium are being offered support for 50% of the registration fee, along with a 360-degree camera and fuel vouchers, totaling approximately VND 72 million. Those who opt for the MT version receive a rearview camera worth VND 2.5 million.

Toyota is also offering registration fee support for the Veloz in November. Specifically, both CVT and CVT Top versions of the MPV Veloz Cross come with a 50% registration fee support, equivalent to a cash value of around VND 32-33 million.

Currently, the Veloz Cross is priced between VND 638-660 million. Factoring in the governmentโ€™s registration fee support program, customers can save up to VND 64-66 million, depending on the version they choose.

Suzuki XL7 Hybrid Shows Promise

One of the few models to witness an increase in sales within the MPV segment is the Kia Carens. In October, Carens sold 515 units, a nearly 8% increase from the previous month. This positive sales performance pushes the total number of Carens sold in the first ten months of the year to 3,599 units, temporarily securing its position as the third best-selling model in the segment.

The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is the model with the strongest growth in the affordable MPV segment for October. Since its launch, this is only the second month of sales reporting for the XL7 Hybrid, and it has achieved 308 units, a 20.3% increase compared to the previous month.

In November, this newcomer is also eligible for a 50% registration fee discount from the manufacturer. Additionally, customers who place an order for the XL7 Hybrid and complete their payment by the end of the month will receive a genuine accessory package worth VND 30 million.

In contrast to the XL7 Hybridโ€™s positive performance, the Honda BR-V and Hyundai Stargazer experienced sales declines during this peak season.

In October, Honda Vietnam sold 358 BR-Vs, a slight decrease of 3.7% from the previous month. In reality, BR-Vโ€™s sales remain robust compared to earlier reports this year, as this is the third consecutive month with sales exceeding 300 units.

The Hyundai Stargazer sold 433 units, ten fewer than the previous month.
