In the final days of 2024, the prototype of the new-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA was once again spotted on public roads, indicating an imminent launch.
In its latest appearance, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA was only partially covered, revealing a significant number of new design details. The car’s head and tail sections were concealed, while the rest of the vehicle showcased a sleek, coupe-like silhouette with hidden door handles and a fresh window frame design.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA is expected to feature a rounded coupe-style profile, with hidden door handles, a redesigned window frame, and eye-catching star-patterned graphics on its headlights and taillights.
While the design of the petrol and electric versions may appear similar, the electric variant is likely to omit the exhaust pipes and feature a closed-off grille design.
As the first model built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), the third-generation CLA will serve as the foundation for three additional models, including a shooting brake and two SUVs.
The all-electric CLA 2025 will be equipped with a single rear-mounted motor, generating an impressive 268 horsepower. A more powerful variant will feature an additional front-mounted motor, producing 107 horsepower, paired with Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
Built on an 800V platform, the CLA electric model will support fast DC charging at 320kWh. Its 85 kWh battery pack offers an exceptional range of up to 750 kilometers on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle.
The hybrid versions will be powered by a new 1.5L M252 engine, delivering 134, 161, or 188 horsepower. A seamlessly integrated 27-horsepower electric motor will be coupled with a dual-clutch 8-speed transmission, offering the option of front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Additionally, there are speculations about a 2.0L turbocharged engine, developed in collaboration with Geely, which is expected to produce 250 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA is anticipated to make its global debut at the upcoming 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which opens its doors on January 7, 2025.
