Honda Vietnam recently concluded a program that combined helmet donations for first-grade students with road safety education for students and parents nationwide for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The program was a collaborative effort between Honda Vietnam (HVN), the National Committee for Traffic Safety (NCTS), and the Ministry of Education and Training.
In alignment with the Government’s vision to achieve “ZERO road traffic deaths” by 2045, as well as Honda’s global goals of “halving traffic collision fatalities by 2030” and “ZERO traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050,” Honda Vietnam (HVN) decided to donate helmets to first-grade students across the country during the 2024-2025 academic year.
This meaningful program stems from the understanding of the crucial role that wearing certified helmets plays in protecting road users. Especially for first-grade students, who are at an important age for developing cognitive abilities, instilling the habit of always wearing a certified helmet when riding on motorcycles, scooters, electric bikes, or scooters is essential.
HVN’s decision to donate over 1.7 million certified helmets during the 2024-2025 academic year aims to achieve the following goals:
Foster a culture of helmet use among riders of motorcycles, scooters, electric bikes, and bicycles in Vietnam, striving for a 100% compliance rate with the National Technical Regulations;
Enhance road safety awareness among students and parents through educational and communication activities;
Collaborate with the Government to intensify surveillance, inspection, and strict handling of violations related to the production, trading, and use of substandard helmets in provinces/cities, especially in major urban areas such as Hanoi.
Since the launch of the program in September 2024, the partners have actively coordinated to conduct over 1,000 events, successfully donating more than 1.7 million certified helmets to first-grade students in over 14,000 schools nationwide. This effort was coupled with road safety education for 1.7 million students and 300,000 parents.
HVN believes that this initiative of combining helmet donations with road safety education for students and parents will significantly contribute to enhancing the knowledge and skills of safe road participation among students and parents nationwide, leading towards a safer and more civilized traffic society in Vietnam.
