Hyundai Expands its Electric Vehicle Lineup with the All-Electric Staria in Early 2025
According to Newsis, a South Korean magazine, the Hyundai Staria all-electric version will be launched in early 2025. This model is expected to be produced on Line 1 of Hyundai’s Ulsan 4 plant in South Korea.
This move is part of Hyundai’s strategy to expand its electric vehicle portfolio to 21 models by 2030. The South Korean company also aims to achieve annual sales of over 2 million electric vehicles in the future.
According to sources, the all-electric Staria will use a lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery with a capacity of 84 kWh, similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It will also feature an 800V fast-charging system, allowing the vehicle to travel an additional 100km after just a 10-minute charge.
First introduced in 2021, the Hyundai Staria is a versatile multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that replaced the Starex, offering 7 and 11-seat options. It comes in a range of versions, including gasoline, diesel, and LPG engine options. In February 2024, Hyundai launched the Staria hybrid, sharing technology with the Kia Carnival Hybrid.
As of November 2024, Hyundai has sold 37,769 units of the Staria. In 2023, the sales figure for this product reached 39,780 units, including domestic and export sales. For the full year of 2024, Staria’s sales are expected to surpass the 40,000-unit mark.
Moving forward, the Hyundai Group will strengthen its electric van lineup. In addition to the Staria EV, Hyundai’s subsidiary, Kia, will soon introduce three van models, PV1, PV5, and PV7, in the small, medium, and large segments, respectively.
