As we approach the year’s end, Vietnam’s automotive market is entering its final stretch. This period marks an important time for car manufacturers, who are offering various incentives and discounts to boost sales and meet their annual targets.

While locally assembled vehicles continue to benefit from reduced registration fees, imported cars are also witnessing a range of promotions, with some offering savings of up to hundreds of millions of VND.

Imported Honda Cars

This November, Honda is offering a 50% subsidy on registration fees for the Honda BR-V and Honda HR-V. Both vehicles are imported, with the BR-V sourced from Indonesia and the HR-V from Thailand.

With prices ranging from 661 to 705 million VND, the 50% discount on registration fees for the Honda BR-V translates to a savings of 33 to 35 million VND, depending on the trim level. Additionally, customers who purchase the BR-V this month will receive a one-year physical damage insurance policy and other gifts from dealerships.

The Honda HR-V also benefits from a 50% reduction in registration fees, amounting to a savings of 35 to 43.5 million VND. This B-segment SUV once dominated its segment in Vietnam, but its sales have been declining. Currently, the urban SUV segment is led by the Mitsubishi Xforce and Toyota Yaris Cross, both of which are imported models.

Another imported Honda model, the Accord, continues to offer a cash incentive of 220 million VND. After the discount, the Honda Accord is priced at 1.099 billion VND.

Similar to most other vehicles in the D-segment sedan category, the Honda Accord has not achieved impressive sales figures in Vietnam. Over the past ten months, only 69 units of the Honda Accord have been sold in the country. This makes it Honda’s second slowest-selling car, just ahead of the Honda Civic Type R, which has sold 11 units since the beginning of the year.

Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester, a popular SUV in Vietnam, is about to undergo a change in its country of origin. Speaking to Tri thức – Znews at the VMS 2024, a Subaru sales consultant revealed that the C-segment SUV will start being imported from Japan next year.

The current batch of Subaru Forester vehicles is imported from Thailand. This November, these cars are eligible for a maximum discount of 230 million VND.

The highest discount of 230 million VND is offered on the Subaru Forester 2.0 i-S EyeSight, reducing its price from 1.199 billion VND to 969 million VND. The Subaru Forester i-L EyeSight and i-L trims receive discounts of 170 million VND and 100 million VND, respectively, bringing their prices down to 929 million VND and 869 million VND.

Additionally, Subaru is offering special promotions for the first 99 customers who purchase the Subaru Crosstrek. This newcomer to the B-segment SUV market is introduced with prices of 1.098 billion VND and 1.268 billion VND for the two trims, but with discounts of 999 million VND and 1.169 billion VND, respectively.

The Subaru Crosstrek is currently imported from Japan, and soon, the Subaru Forester will join the lineup of vehicles imported from the same country.

Toyota’s Urban SUVs

In the urban SUV segment in Vietnam, Toyota has two representatives: the Toyota Yaris Cross, imported from Indonesia, and the Toyota Corolla Cross, imported from Thailand.

As imported vehicles, neither of these models falls under the government’s policy of a 50% reduction in registration fees.
