Honda Vietnam has issued a recall for 2,695 Honda CR-V hybrid vehicles due to potential gasoline leaks. The recall affects the imported CR-V e:HEV RS models produced between August 24, 2023, and September 11, 2023.

According to the Vietnam Registry, the gasoline leak in the Honda CR-V hybrid vehicles is caused by a potential crack in the high-pressure fuel pump. During the heat treatment process for material reinforcement, some parts may not have been heated sufficiently, or excessive load during the machining process may have caused cracks in the components. When the engine is running, gasoline can leak from these cracks, and drivers may notice a gasoline smell when starting the engine or driving.

Although no safety incidents have been reported in Vietnam due to this issue, Honda still recommends that customers take their vehicles to authorized Honda distributors for inspection and necessary part replacements.

The inspection for the affected Honda CR-V e:HEV RS models will commence on November 25, 2023. The process will take approximately 30 minutes per vehicle and will be carried out free of charge.

The Honda CR-V hybrid made its debut in Vietnam in late October 2023, alongside the launch of the new generation of this C-segment SUV. This hybrid version offers a 5-seat configuration, unlike the 7-seat arrangement in the gasoline-only variants.

The Honda CR-V e:HEV RS combines a 2.0L gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a maximum total output of 204 horsepower. Thanks to its hybrid technology, the CR-V e:HEV RS achieves impressive fuel efficiency, with a combined cycle consumption of 5.2 liters per 100 km and an impressive 3.4 liters per 100 km in city driving.

The Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is priced at VND 1,259 billion.
