Land Rover Launches the New Range Rover Velar in Vietnam

Land Rover Vietnam has unveiled the new Range Rover Velar in the country, marking the second facelift for the current generation of this luxury SUV. The new Velar is introduced with a total of seven variants, featuring three different engine options: P250, P340, and P400e, and three main version groups: S, Dynamic SE, and Dynamic HSE.

The starting price for the new Range Rover Velar is VND 3.729 billion for the S 2.0 P250 version, while the highest price is VND 5.689 billion for the sole PHEV option – the Dynamic HSE 2.0 PHEV P400e.

## Subtle Exterior and Interior Updates

The second facelift of the Range Rover Velar introduces two new exterior color options: Varesine Metallic Green and Premium Zadar Metallic Grey. The SUV’s grille has been redesigned, taking inspiration from the latest Range Rover model.

This facelift features a modern and streamlined update to the headlight cluster. The Velar is equipped with full LED or Pixel LED headlights, accompanied by dynamic bending technology. The daytime running lights feature a distinct design, and the turn signals are thinner, with an accompanying effect when activated.

At the rear, the taillights have been redesigned with a 4D effect, integrating fog lights and turn signals.

## Enhanced Cabin Experience

The new Range Rover Velar boasts an upgraded 11.4-inch central curved touchscreen, positioned higher and within the driver’s reach, reducing distractions and minimizing glare. This design streamlines the dashboard, creating a clutter-free and intuitive user experience, while optimizing the overall layout.

The Velar’s cabin also introduces active noise cancellation technology. This feature senses external frequencies and automatically counteracts noise through the vehicle’s audio system, reducing overall in-cabin noise by a minimum of 4 dB.

## Engine Options and Variant Differences

The Range Rover Velar Facelift is offered with the Ingenium engine in three variants: P250, P340, and P400e, with the latter providing the sole PHEV option.

The P250 is equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering 250 horsepower and 365 Nm of torque. The P340 features a mild-hybrid system, combining a 3.0L six-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor, generating 340 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque.

The P400e, the sole PHEV variant in Vietnam, combines a 2.0L four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 300 horsepower with a 140-horsepower electric motor. This setup delivers a total output of 404 horsepower and 640 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 209 km/h.

All versions are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system.

The most noticeable differences between the S and Dynamic versions lie in their exterior styling. The S versions lack a bonnet decoration, and the side vent trim is in a dark finish. The S version features synthetic side trim, a standard front bumper, and grey rear bumper trim without exhaust pipe decoration or a rear diffuser.

The Dynamic version features a darker grille, larger and more athletic side vents with two horizontal bars, and side trim finished in matte copper. The rear bumper is in a dark finish, with bright tailgate lettering, a body-colored rear diffuser, and dual exhaust pipes in matte copper.

The PHEV variant, in particular, offers improved all-electric range thanks to an enhanced battery capacity. The Range Rover Velar Dynamic HSE 2.0 PHEV can now travel up to 64 kilometers solely on electric power, according to the WLTP cycle, a 20% increase over its predecessor.

With its PHEV variant, the Range Rover Velar offers a combined range of up to 684 kilometers when both the fuel tank is full and the battery is charged. When connected to a 50 kW DC charging station, the 19.2 kWh battery can be charged from 0-80% in approximately 30 minutes.

Overall, the new Range Rover Velar in Vietnam presents a comprehensive update, including exterior and interior design enhancements. With a price range of VND 3.729-5.689 billion, it competes with rivals such as the BMW X5, Porsche Macan, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Lexus LX. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid options make the Velar an attractive choice for customers seeking to transition to greener vehicles. The PHEV variant’s all-electric range of up to 64 kilometers is well-suited for urban commutes, while the combined range of over 680 kilometers ensures peace of mind for longer journeys.
