Mercedes-Benz: A Leading Luxury Car Brand in Vietnam

Mercedes-Benz has been a prominent player in Vietnam’s automotive industry, offering a range of imported vehicles and locally assembled models. The brand’s decision to establish a factory in Go Vap, Ho Chi Minh City, in 1995, marked a significant step in their local presence. By assembling various models in Vietnam, Mercedes-Benz has gained a competitive edge in pricing compared to its rivals, solidifying its position as the leading luxury car brand in the country for many years.

C-Class Dominance

The C-Class line-up showcases Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to the Vietnamese market, with almost all models being locally assembled, except for the C300 AMG First Edition. The C 200 Avantgarde, C 300 AMG, and C 43 4Matic are all assembled in Vietnam, offering customers a more affordable option in the luxury car segment.

This November, customers purchasing the C-Class models are eligible for a 50% reduction in registration fees from the government, making it an even more attractive proposition.

The C 200 Avantgarde, the most affordable model in the C-Class range in Vietnam, is offered in two versions: Avantgarde and Avantgarde Plus, priced at 1.388 billion VND and 1.599 billion VND, respectively. In addition to the government incentive, customers purchasing the C 200 Avantgarde in November also benefit from a 50% discount on registration fees from the manufacturer. This combination of incentives translates to a significant savings of up to 159 million VND for buyers.

While the C 200 may be the most affordable option in the C-Class family, the C 300 takes center stage as the flagship model, regularly featured as the brand’s representative. With a price tag of 2.099 billion VND, the C 300 embodies the perfect balance of luxury and performance that Mercedes-Benz is renowned for.

For those seeking an even more exhilarating driving experience, the Mercedes-Benz C 43 4Matic, assembled in Vietnam, delivers an impressive 408 horsepower from its 2.0L mild hybrid engine. This high-performance model is priced at approximately 2.96 billion VND.

E-Class Excellence

The E-Class line-up showcases Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to offering a diverse range of options to Vietnamese customers. All models in this class, including the E 180, E 200 Exclusive, and E 300 AMG, are assembled at the Ho Chi Minh City factory. The E 180 is priced at 2.159 billion VND, while the E 200 Exclusive comes in at 2.54 billion VND.

The E 300 AMG, the most expensive model in the E-Class range, embodies the perfect fusion of sporty design and AMG-developed performance. Equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing 258 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, along with a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds.

In summary, the locally assembled models have played a pivotal role in boosting Mercedes-Benz’s sales performance and solidifying its leadership position in the luxury car market in Vietnam. With the recent extension of their factory operation and leadership changes, the brand is poised to further enhance its core models to maintain its market share in the face of rising competition.

However, challenges lie ahead as rivals such as BMW, Audi, and Volvo intensify their efforts with new model launches and frequent updates. To maintain its dominance, Mercedes-Benz must continue to evolve and adapt to the dynamic market landscape.

As the brand navigates these challenges, there is a possibility that Mercedes-Benz may gradually shift towards importing models from within the region instead of local assembly, especially considering the relatively short five-year extension for their Ho Chi Minh City factory. Such a shift could potentially impact their influence and sales performance in the Vietnamese market.
