In the final month of 2024, Dang Le Nguyen Vu made headlines by purchasing a pair of Morgan sports cars – the Plus Six and Plus Four – with a combined value of nearly VND 18 billion, including registration costs.
But he didn’t stop there. In the first ten days of 2025, Vu added three brand new Morgan Plus Six sports cars to his collection. With just over two weeks to go until Tet, this single customer has kept the showroom busy with five car purchases.
Images circulating on social media show that all three of these convertible sports cars are the Morgan Plus Six variant, and they have been fitted with UN stickers on the doors, suggesting that Vu is opting for a new style without changing the original decals.
The three Morgan Plus Six cars are in eye-catching color combinations of green and white, emerald green and white, and orange and white. Previously, Vu had purchased a white and green Morgan Plus Six and a matte black Morgan Plus Four.
In the Vietnamese market, the Morgan Plus Six is priced at VND 8 billion by the official dealer. There has never been a precedent in Vietnam or ASEAN for a single customer to buy five Morgan cars from an official showroom, so Vu has certainly made a strong statement with these purchases.
The Plus Six also marks a slight departure from Morgan’s traditional approach, as they have combined their signature ash wood framework with a new aluminum platform, increasing torsional rigidity by 100% while reducing the car’s weight by 100 kg. Of course, the body still sits on an ash wood frame, but it has been significantly reinforced compared to previous models.
At a glance, it’s hard to distinguish the Morgan Plus Six from the Plus 8. They share the same chrome-plated vertical slat grille, and the lighting configurations vary between four and six lights, depending on the model. This gives the Plus Six a rugged appearance, as the lights are all classic round shapes, large and chunky, unlike the more modern designs of other car manufacturers.
From the side, the Plus Six has a softer, deeper curve and a more pronounced air vent behind the front wheel. The rear end looks like a square block of ash wood, devoid of the sleek lines, curves, or soft edges typically associated with sports cars. The brake lights and turn signals are also quite basic, and some critics might argue that Morgan’s design is outdated for the current century. The sports car aesthetic is enhanced by the round, oversized central exhaust pipe.
The soft top comes in a choice of black, red, or dark blue, depending on the customer’s preference. Unlike other sports or supercars, there are no buttons to press for opening or closing the roof; it’s a manual process, but one that is straightforward and easy to manage.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the Plus Six represents a new generation for Morgan. They have equipped this model with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, producing an impressive 335 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. This B58 engine is also found in the BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra sports cars. Notably, the Plus Six is the first Morgan model to feature a factory-installed engine.
The Morgan Plus Six’s performance matches its sporty looks, as its engine is paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 267 km/h.
