Six variants of the Aito M8 SUV have been revealed by China’s MIIT, offering all-electric ranges of 161 km, 235 km, and 240 km.

Positioned between the Aito M7 and Aito M9, the M8 targets the mid-to-large SUV market and will compete with the Li L8 and L9. It is expected to officially launch in the first half of 2025.

Insiders familiar with the Aito M8 reveal that the vehicle will showcase Huawei’s pursuit of both technical capabilities and design style.

The Aito M8 adheres to the design language of the Aito SUV family, featuring see-through headlights, semi-hidden door handles, a roof-mounted bonnet, and large chrome-plated wheels.

Its dimensions are impressive, with a length of 5190 mm, a width of 1999 mm, a height of 1795 mm, and a wheelbase of 3105 mm. Depending on the variant, the curb weight ranges from 2640 kg to 2715 kg.

Powering the M8 is an extended-range engine producing 118 kW (158 hp) (HG15T model) from Chongqing Xiaokang Power, coupled with dual electric motors delivering 165 kW (221 hp) or 227 kW (304 hp). The battery options include lithium iron phosphate or three-component lithium with capacities of 36.019 kWh or 51.975 kWh.

Fuel consumption is impressive, with WLTC ratings of 0.53 liters/100km, 0.52 liters/100km, or 0.85 liters/100km depending on the variant. The top speed is clocked at 200 km/h.

Optional configurations include various colors for the luggage rack, window frame, mirror base, front grille, rear bumper, side skirt, headlight and taillight trim, front logo, and rear label. Additionally, a range of wheel designs is available to choose from.

A spy shot of the interior reveals a similar three-screen design to the Aito M9, including a full LCD dashboard, a central control screen, and an entertainment screen for the co-pilot. The cabin accommodates five or six people, including the driver. Moreover, features such as Huawei’s Harmony smart cockpit, xPixel headlights, and the advanced ADS 3.0 driving system are expected to be included in the Aito M8.
