The D-segment SUV market in Vietnam has a lot of fans despite the price tag of over a billion VND. In the last quarter of the year, many models in this segment are being offered with incentives to boost sales, from locally assembled vehicles to imported ones.

Skoda Kodiaq

The Czech brand entered the Vietnamese market with two SUV models: the Skoda Karoq and the Skoda Kodiaq. The latter is positioned in the D-SUV segment, competing with the Ford Everest, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Toyota Fortuner.

As an imported model, the Skoda Kodiaq does not benefit from the government’s 50% reduction in registration fee. However, the brand is offering a similar incentive to its customers.

Vietnamese customers who purchase the Skoda Kodiaq in November will receive a 100% registration fee support and a 30 million VND voucher for the Ambition version only.

The maximum incentive for the Skoda Kodiaq Ambition in November is 166 million VND, while the Kodiaq Style version has an incentive value of 161 million VND.

Combining these incentives with others, the Skoda Kodiaq now has a price range of 1.023-1.248 billion VND, making it one of the most competitively priced D-SUV options on the market today.

Soon, the Skoda factory in Quang Ninh province will officially start operations with the first model confirmed to be the Skoda Kushaq, positioned in the B-SUV segment.

Local assembly is likely to make Skoda models more affordable, increasing their competitiveness against Japanese, American, Korean, and even Chinese rivals.

GAC GS8

Similar to Skoda, the Chinese brand GAC also chose to enter the Vietnamese market with the GS8, a D-segment SUV.

The GAC GS8 is offered in two versions, the GL and GT, priced at 1.269 billion VND and 1.369 billion VND, respectively.

As an imported model, the GAC GS8 does not benefit from the registration fee exemption.

In November, customers who purchase the GAC GS8 will receive a cash incentive of 20 million VND for all versions. In addition, the D-SUV model also comes with a free heat-insulating film package worth 19 million VND and one year of physical insurance.

While the discount amount is not significant, it is still enough to make the GAC GS8 more competitive in the sales race.

Currently, the Ford Everest is the market leader in the D-SUV segment in Vietnam, followed by the Hyundai Santa Fe.

Ford Everest

With a sales volume of 8,434 units in the first ten months, the Ford Everest is currently the top-selling model in the D-SUV segment in Vietnam.

The Ford Everest is an imported model from Thailand, with a total of five versions available. The price range starts from 1.099 billion VND to 1.545 billion VND.

Except for the top-of-the-line Platinum version, the other versions of the Ford Everest, including the Ambiente, Sport, Titanium, and Titanium+, are eligible for incentives in November.

Vietnamese customers who purchase the standard Ambiente version will receive a 100% registration fee incentive, equivalent to nearly 110 million VND. After the incentive, the Ford Everest Ambiente is priced at 989 million VND.

The Sport, Titanium, and Titanium+ versions are offered with a cash incentive of 22 million VND each. After the discount, these Ford Everest models are now priced at 1.156-1.146 billion VND.

Hyundai Santa Fe

With the launch of the new generation in mid-September, the Hyundai Santa Fe now has five versions with prices ranging from 1.069 billion VND to 1.365 billion VND.

Currently, the Hyundai Santa Fe Exclusive and Prestige versions are offered with a cash incentive of 25 million VND each, bringing the prices down to 1.044 billion VND and 1.24 billion VND, respectively.

This move by Hyundai dealers aims to boost sales of the Exclusive and Prestige versions, as customers are showing a preference for the Calligraphy versions, priced at 1.315-1.365 billion VND.
