The year 2023, and especially 2022, was notable for Dang Le Nguyen Vu’s extravagant spending on supercars, with the businessman spending over 1,000 billion VND on his collection. While 2024 saw a slight dip in the number of new additions, it was no less exciting, with Vu diversifying his automotive interests beyond just supercars.

Some purchases were made on a whim, with Vu making instant decisions after mere minutes of conversation, while others took months as he carefully considered the legal aspects. Overall, Vu’s spending on cars decreased compared to previous years, with a notable shift towards classic and vintage vehicles, some of which cost only a few hundred million VND.

One of the most impressive acquisitions by the “King of Coffee” in 2024 was the Mercedes-AMG GT R. Despite being on the market for over a year, it failed to find a buyer until Vu spotted it at a showroom and made the purchase within minutes.

In addition to the GT R, Vu also swiftly snapped up a Mercedes-AMG GT S just a day after it was advertised for sale. Together, these two cars are estimated to be worth over 16 billion VND.

Other notable additions to Vu’s garage in 2024 include the Ferrari 812 GTS and Ferrari 812 Superfast, both boasting incredible performance. However, these cars are unlikely to be seen in public for at least the next two to three years, if ever.

Impromptu purchases included the Ferrari California T, a car Vu had previously owned and reacquired, as well as the Ferrari 488 Pista and the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, sourced from a discreet collector. While the number of supercars acquired in 2024 was modest compared to previous years, Vu’s garage still welcomed an impressive roster of vehicles.

Vu’s growing interest in JDM and unique cars saw the addition of the Jaguar XJS (1975-1996), the rare Datsun 280ZX, various versions of the Toyota Celica and Supra, and the vintage Toyota Crown Custom 1971. His collection also expanded to include the Suzuki Samurai, Toyota AE86, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Corvette C3, Mazda MX-5 Miata NA, Mazda RX-7 FD, Datsun 1600 Roadster, Pontiac Firebird, and Toyota MR2.

Rounding out his collection are sports cars such as the Mercedes-Benz 190SL, 280SL, 560SL, and SLK, as well as the Porsche 930 Turbo, 356, 944, and 911 GT3 RS. American muscle is represented by the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06, while British elegance comes in the form of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and DB9 Volante. Finally, Vu ended 2024 with the purchase of two Morgan cars: the Plus Four and Plus Six.

These insights into Vu’s automotive acquisitions were shared by car dealers themselves, as the businessman tends to keep a low profile regarding his purchases. Our sources have also revealed that Vu secretly acquired the one-of-a-kind Chevrolet Corvette C6 Convertible in Vietnam, adding yet another unique vehicle to his impressive collection.
