According to a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), the total market sales reached 31,598 units, comprising 24,575 passenger cars, 6,461 commercial vehicles, and 562 special-purpose vehicles.
Passenger car sales decreased by 29%, commercial vehicle sales dropped by 28%, while special-purpose vehicle sales increased by 61% compared to the previous month. Domestic assembled car sales reached 12,862 units, a 49% decline from the previous month, while completely built-up imported car sales were 18,736 units, a 2% decrease.
Most car brands experienced a decline in sales as the government’s 50% registration fee support policy came to an end.
Here are the top 10 best-selling models in December 2024:
VinFast VF 3: 8,800 units
VinFast announced the delivery of over 20,000 vehicles in December 2024 in the Vietnamese market, an unprecedented sales figure in the history of the domestic automobile market. This brought the total number of automobiles delivered in Vietnam for the whole year to more than 87,000 units.
Among them, the VF 3 model was the best-selling car in December 2024, with sales of over 8,800 units. After five months of launch, the VF 3 has recorded a total sales volume of more than 25,000 units.
Currently, the VinFast VF3 with a rented battery is priced at 235 million VND, and the version with an included battery is 315 million VND. These prices do not include options such as color and official accessories.
VinFast VF 5: 4,900 units
Ranking second in the top 10 best-selling cars in December 2024 was the VF 5 with sales of 4,900 units. In the past 12 months, this model has achieved sales of more than 32,000 units. As a result, the VF 5 became the best-selling car in the domestic market for 2024.
The VF 5 used to be VinFast’s most affordable electric car before the launch of the VF 3. It is sold at 468 million VND without a charging battery and 559 million VND including the battery and charger. At this time, buyers are exempt from registration fees and can also charge for free at VinFast charging stations.
VinFast VF 6: 2,700 units
In December, the VF 6 line also recorded strong sales growth, with more than 2,700 units sold, ranking third in the top 10 best-selling cars of December 2024.
In the Vietnamese market, the VinFast VF 6 is available in two versions: Base and Plus. The Base version is priced at 675 million VND (excluding the battery) and 765 million VND (including the battery), while the Plus version costs 765 million VND (excluding the battery) and 855 million VND (including the battery).
Mitsubishi Xpander: 1,989 units
Ranking fourth in the top 10 best-selling cars of the month was the Mitsubishi Xpander with sales of 1,989 units, a decrease of 2,422 units compared to November. In 2024, Mitsubishi delivered a total of 19,498 Xpander units to customers, a slight decrease of 2% compared to 2023.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is distributed in Vietnam with four versions: MT, AT, AT Premium, and Xpander Cross, with prices ranging from 560 to 698 million VND.
Hyundai Accent: 1,861 units
In December 2024, the Hyundai Accent recorded sales of 1,861 units, a 9.3% decrease from the previous month. For the whole year of 2024, Hyundai delivered a total of 13,538 Hyundai Accent units to consumers, a 22.4% drop compared to 2023.
Currently, the Hyundai Accent is offered in four versions, with prices ranging from 439 to 569 million VND.
Ford Ranger: 1,604 units
In December 2024, the Ford Ranger sold 1,604 units. For the full year of 2024, Ford Vietnam sold 17,508 Rangers, a 9% increase compared to 2023. The Ford Ranger remains the best-selling model in the pickup truck segment for 2024.
Currently, the Ford Ranger is distributed in Vietnam with seven versions, with prices ranging from 669 million to 1.299 billion VND.
Toyota Yaris Cross: 1,578 units
In December 2024, Toyota sold 1,578 Yaris Cross units, a 33% increase compared to November. For the whole year, 11,174 Yaris Cross units were sold, a threefold increase compared to 2023.
The Toyota Yaris Cross is sold in Vietnam with two versions, priced at 730 million and 838 million VND, respectively.
Toyota Vios: 1,504 units
In December 2024, the Toyota Vios recorded sales of 1,504 units, a 30% decrease from November. For the full year of 2024, Toyota Vios sold 14,210 units, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year.
Currently, the Toyota Vios is distributed in Vietnam with three versions, with prices ranging from 458 to 545 million VND.
Toyota Innova Cross: 1,203 units
With sales of 1,203 units in December 2024, a 62% increase from the previous month, the Innova Cross entered the top 10 best-selling cars of the month in ninth place. For the whole year of 2024, this model recorded sales of 6,034 units.
The Toyota Innova Cross is sold in Vietnam with two versions, priced at 810 and 990 million VND, respectively.
Mitsubishi Xforce: 1,140 units
Ranking tenth in the top 10 best-selling cars of the month was the Mitsubishi Xforce with December 2024 sales of 1,140 units, a 37% decrease from the previous month. For the whole year of 2024, a total of 14,407 Xforce units were sold in the Vietnamese market.
Currently, the car is imported from Indonesia to Vietnam with four versions: GLX, Exceed, Premium, and Ultimate, with prices ranging from 599 to 705 million VND.
