The Urtopia, a Hong Kong-based technology company, unveiled its Titanium Zero electric bicycle with a super-compact motor at CES 2025 in Texas, capturing the attention of attendees.
This innovative motor, named Quark DM1.2, weighs merely 1.2 kg and fits snugly in the palm of your hand.
It features a high-precision torque sensor and a custom magnetic encoder. With a maximum torque of 65 Nm, it enables the bike to reach speeds of up to 25 km/h. Powering the bike is a lithium battery that offers a maximum range of approximately 120 km at top speed.
The Titanium Zero also boasts a 3D-printed titanium alloy frame, resulting in an incredibly lightweight overall weight of just 10.8 kg. Complementing the frame are carbon fiber forks, rims, spokes, and a titanium seat post.
The cost of producing this bike, including materials, technology, and labor, amounts to a staggering $50,000 (approximately 1.3 billion VND). In the US market, this price tag rivals that of a Mercedes-Benz C-Class, starting at $49,600. Currently, Urtopia has no plans for commercial production of this bike.
However, the company is considering the commercialization of the Quark DM1.2 motor. This versatile motor, apart from being used in future Urtopia electric bicycles, could find applications in a range of other products and might even inspire the development of miniature electric car engines.
