Huawei recently unveiled an innovative robotic arm that revolutionizes the electric vehicle charging experience, allowing users to charge their cars without leaving their seats.
In a video demonstration, the Maextro S800 electric sedan seamlessly backs into a charging station, where an automated robotic arm extends to connect to the charging port, eliminating the need for manual plugging.
Once charging is complete, the arm retracts, and payment is automatically processed, allowing the vehicle to depart without any human intervention.
The robotic charging arm is installed on Huawei’s 600kW fast-charging pile, capable of delivering 100kWh of charge in just 10 minutes.
According to speculations, this automated robotic charging arm is expected to enter mass production by Q2 2025.
While the Chinese company has not disclosed further details, it is believed that the charging pile will be compatible with vehicles from all members of the Huawei Fast Charging Alliance, including BYD, Xpeng, Li Auto, Aito, JAC, and Great Wall. Huawei established this alliance in April 2024, with 11 major Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers on board.
Maextro is a premium brand developed through the collaboration between Huawei and JAC. It is the highest-end brand among the four brands under the HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) of Huawei. The Maextro S800 sedan has been on sale since November 2024, with a starting price of 1 million Chinese yuan (approximately 3.46 billion VND).
