Euro NCAP has recently announced the safest cars tested in 2024 in Europe, with the Zeekr X from Geely standing out by winning two awards.
Specifically, the Zeekr X outperformed competitors such as the Deepal S07, Porsche Macan EV, Cupra Tavascan, MG HS, Toyota C-HR, Volvo EX30, and Xpeng G6 to win the ‘Best Car’ award.
The Zeekr X also took home the ‘Best in Class’ award for the safest electric-only car of 2024, beating other models like the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan.
While Chinese automakers have been making waves in the past year, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class shone in the overall safety category (including internal combustion engines). It excelled in all four Euro NCAP assessment areas.
In the large SUV segment, the Mazda CX-80 surpassed the Audi Q6 e-tron to earn recognition in 2024.
When it comes to large family cars, the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb shared the top spot. Both vehicles are built on the same platform and fall under the Volkswagen Group.
In the pickup segment, Euro NCAP tested the Chinese Maxus eTerron 9 for the first time. While it didn’t rank as the best in its class, Euro NCAP highly commended its safety features.
Starting in 2026, Euro NCAP will modify its safety assessment methods. However, the five-star rating system will remain a reliable indicator of new cars’ safety performance.
