On January 16, BYD shared official images of its Han L sedan and Tang L crossover models. These vehicles showcase the brand’s latest design language and feature a new electric motor capable of spinning up to 30,000 rpm. The electric variants of the Han L and Tang L boast a four-wheel-drive system with an impressive combined output of 810 kW (1,085 hp).
The flagship models of the BYD Dynasty, the Han L and Tang L, were previously spotted in China multiple times as they geared up for their market launch. On January 10, they filed for sales permits in China, revealing their core specifications. Now, BYD has shared official images of these highly anticipated vehicles.
The exterior of the BYD Han L sedan closely resembles the standard Han model. The front features elongated headlights combined with a chrome accent. It boasts LiDAR sensors on the roof, flush door handles, a sloping roofline, and a single-bar taillight design. Other notable features of the Han L include ten-spoke wheels with red brake calipers and a large sunroof.
The BYD Han L boasts generous dimensions of 5050/1960/1505 mm with a wheelbase of 2970 mm. To put it into perspective, it is 10 mm longer, 50 mm wider, and 10 mm taller than the standard Han model. The Han L rides on 245/45 R19 wheels.
The highlight of the Han L is its powertrain. The rear-wheel-drive, all-electric variant of this sedan employs a permanent magnet synchronous motor with an output of 500 kW (670 hp) and a maximum rpm of 30,000.
The four-wheel-drive variant of the Han EV takes it up a notch with a 580 kW (777 hp) electric motor at the rear axle and a 230 kW (308 hp) electric motor up front. This configuration enables the BYD Han L to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 2.7 seconds.
The BYD Han L plug-in hybrid utilizes two different configurations: the DM-i and DM-p variants. The former combines a 1.5-liter ICE engine producing 115 kW (154 hp) with an electric motor generating 200 kW (268 hp). The DM-p variant takes it a step further by adding another electric motor with an output of 200 kW.
In contrast to the Han L, the BYD Tang L exhibits notable differences from the standard Tang model. The front end features slim LED daytime running lights and headlights integrated into the front bumper. It sports active air intakes and LiDAR sensors on the roof. The Tang L has a sloping roofline, hidden door handles, and a sporty roof spoiler.
The dimensions of the BYD Tang L are 5040/1996/1760 mm, with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. It is significantly larger than the standard Tang SUV, measuring 170 mm longer, 46 mm wider, and 35 mm taller. It rides on 20-inch/21-inch wheels. The powertrain of the BYD Tang L remains consistent with that of the Han L, offering exceptional performance.
