There are rumors that Mitsubishi is planning to launch the new Pajero Sport by the end of this year or early next year.

The current Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is in its third generation and was introduced back in 2015. While Mitsubishi did give the Pajero Sport a mid-life refresh in 2019 and 2024, the in-car amenities are now outdated compared to its competitors. This has resulted in rather lackluster sales for the Pajero Sport.

Recently, the new Pajero Sport has been spotted undergoing road testing, heavily camouflaged.

It is highly likely that the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will share the same platform as the Triton pickup truck. Based on the shared images, the front end resembles the Triton, while the body retains elements of the old Pajero Sport.

Technical specifications of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport remain a mystery. However, the next generation of this large SUV is expected to offer the same three engine options as the Triton: a 2.4L I-4 gasoline, a 2.4L I-4 diesel, and a 2.4L twin-turbocharged diesel, with power outputs ranging from 148 to 201 horsepower. Transmission options will likely include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

Given the shared platform, it is also probable that the interior layout of the new Pajero Sport will be similar to that of the Triton pickup truck.
