Instead of launching multiple promotional programs to stimulate shopping during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival in 2025, some imported car models have seen price increases of up to several hundred million VND by distributors.
Honda Type R price increased by 600 million VND
Recently, Honda Vietnam has updated the selling price of the Civic Type R model, with an increase of up to 600 million VND, bringing the price of this car to 2.999 billion VND.
Honda Civic Type R was introduced in the Vietnamese market in October 2022 at the Vietnam Motor Show. The car is imported from Japan. Therefore, it is not readily available at dealerships, and customers will have to place a deposit and wait for delivery. This is also the reason why only 11 units of the Civic Type R were delivered to Vietnamese customers throughout 2024.
The sports car is powered by a 2.0L I-4 turbocharged engine, producing 315 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm in the range of 2,600 – 4,000 rpm.
The engine is paired with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual transmission with a Rev Match system (automatic throttle blipping during downshifts).
The Civic Type R is not a mass-market model, and Honda Vietnam does not have high sales expectations for it. In Vietnam, it is not a car for the general public. It caters to speed enthusiasts and those who appreciate driving dynamics, hence the higher price compared to the standard Civic.
Toyota adjusts prices for several imported models
Since the beginning of 2025, Toyota Vietnam has informed its dealerships about price adjustments for imported models.
The models with updated prices include: Corolla Cross, Hilux, Innova Cross, Land Cruiser Prado, Land Cruiser LC300, and Alphard.
Specifically, the Toyota Alphard has seen the most significant price increase, ranging from 140 to 149 million VND depending on the version, bringing the highest price of the car to 4.63 billion VND.
The Land Cruiser Prado and Land Cruiser 300 in pearl white color have also been adjusted upwards by 9 million VND. The new prices of these two vehicles are 3.5 billion VND and 4.3 billion VND, respectively.
The Toyota Innova Cross HEV has been adjusted upwards by 15 million VND. The most expensive version after the adjustment is the Innova Cross HEV in pearl white, priced at 1.113 billion VND.
The Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8V, Corolla Cross 1.8HEV, Hilux 4×4 MT, Hilux 4×2 AT, and Hilux Adventure in red exterior color have also seen a price increase of 8 million VND.
Toyota has not yet announced the reason for the price adjustments. However, the price increase is unlikely to significantly impact the company’s sales in 2025. In reality, the Land Cruiser Prado and Toyota Alphard are not mass-market vehicles, and their sales have already been relatively low.
Meanwhile, the price increase for the Corolla Cross and Hilux only applies to specific colors. Therefore, the new prices may not be a significant concern for those who truly appreciate and want to purchase these vehicles.
The price adjustment for the Innova Cross, however, is puzzling, as it has been a fairly popular model for Toyota in the MPV segment.
GAC M6 Pro price increased by 51 million VND
Since the beginning of 2025, GAC Motor has quietly adjusted the price of the GAC M6 Pro. Specifically, the 1.5T GS and 1.5T GL versions have both increased in price by 51 million VND. The new prices of these two versions are 750 million VND and 850 million VND, respectively.
The GAC M6 Pro was introduced in the Vietnamese market in October 2024 at the VMS 2024. The car is imported from China and distributed in Vietnam by TC Services, a member of the Tan Chong Group.
The GAC M6 Pro is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine, producing a maximum output of 174 horsepower and maximum torque of 270 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
