Here’s a breakdown of the top 10 car-consuming countries for 2024:

**China: 31.46 million vehicles**

Unsurprisingly, China leads the pack when it comes to new car sales, with an astounding 31.46 million vehicles sold in 2024. Major automotive brands like Audi, Porsche, and Tesla have strong joint ventures operating in the country.

The best-selling model in China for the past year was the BYD Song, followed by the BYD Qin Plus and Tesla Model Y in second and third place, respectively.

**United States: 15.97 million vehicles**

The US automotive market witnessed a 2.2% growth in 2024, with total sales reaching nearly 16 million vehicles. Specifically, the electric vehicle segment broke records, achieving 1.3 million in sales, a 7% increase from 2023.

The Ford F-Series reigned as the top-selling model in the US for 2024, trailed by the Chevrolet Silverado and Toyota RAV4.

**Japan: 4.42 million vehicles**

Despite facing several challenges, the Japanese automotive market demonstrated robust growth, recording 4.42 million vehicles in sales and securing its position as the third-largest market globally.

Toyota dominated the Japanese market, with 1.36 million vehicles sold under the brand. Unsurprisingly, all three of the top-selling models in Japan for 2024 bore the Toyota logo.

**India: 4.27 million vehicles**

**Italy: 1.56 million vehicles**
