D-Segment Sedan Sales Table for December 2024 (units: cars)
Toyota Camry: 272 units sold
In December 2024, the Toyota Camry reclaimed its top spot in the D-segment sedan category with sales of 272 units, representing a growth rate of 1,082%. This success is attributed to the launch of the new-generation Camry in the Vietnamese market during that month.
For the entire previous year, cumulative sales of the Camry reached 1,333 units, also leading the D-segment sedan market. However, compared to 2023, sales of this model decreased by 45.1%. This decline can be attributed to the shift in Vietnamese consumer preferences towards higher-riding vehicles.
Toyota Camry
The new-generation Toyota Camry is offered in three trim levels, with prices ranging from 1.22 to 1.53 billion VND. Matching its price point, the Camry boasts a range of standard features, including LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10-way power-adjustable and ventilated driver’s seat, a digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, a head-up display, a sunroof, a JBL nine-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a rear-seat center armrest with an integrated screen.
The Toyota Camry 2025 in Vietnam is available with two powertrain options. The first is a carry-over 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 170 horsepower and 206 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive.
The second option is a hybrid system, combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor. The gasoline engine generates 184 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque, while the electric motor contributes 100 kW and 202 Nm. A lithium-ion battery pack completes the hybrid setup.
Mazda6: 54 units sold
The Mazda6 maintained its position as the second best-selling D-segment sedan in December 2024, with sales of 54 units, representing a 28% decrease compared to the previous month. For the entire year of 2024, the Mazda6 sold a total of 612 units, a modest figure but still securing its place as the second most popular D-segment sedan in Vietnam for that year.
Mazda6
With a price range of 779 to 914 million VND, the Mazda6 is currently the most affordable D-segment sedan in Vietnam. In addition to its competitive pricing, the Mazda6 offers an attractive design, a comprehensive range of convenience and safety features, and equipment that rivals those of more expensive sedans. However, its sales performance has been limited due to a lack of significant updates to its design and features.
Under the hood, the Mazda6 is offered with two engine options. The first is a 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G gasoline engine that produces 154 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The second option is a 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G gasoline engine that generates 188 horsepower and 252 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Kia K5: 21 units sold
2024 was a challenging year for the Kia K5, with declining sales throughout. December 2024 was no exception, as the K5 sold only 21 units, a 41.6% decrease compared to the previous month. For the entire year of 2024, the K5 sold just 301 units, landing it on the list of the top 10 worst-selling cars in the Vietnamese market for both December and the full year.
Kia K5
The Kia K5 has a competitive price range within the segment, starting from 859 to 999 million VND. Additionally, it offers advantages in terms of design and features. However, the K5 has struggled to find favor with Vietnamese buyers, partly due to the strong dominance of the Toyota Camry in the market.
In terms of convenience features, the Kia K5 impresses with LED lighting, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a head-up display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, a Bose 12-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, remote engine start, and wireless phone charging.
Under the hood, the Kia K5 offers two four-cylinder gasoline engine options with displacements of 2.0 liters and 2.5 liters, respectively. The 2.0-liter engine produces 150 horsepower and 192 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5-liter engine, on the other hand, generates 191 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Honda Accord: 12 units sold
The Honda Accord continues to struggle in the D-segment sedan market, selling only 12 units in December 2024, despite a 20% growth rate. For the entire previous year, the Accord sold a mere 91 units, making it one of the slowest-selling cars in Vietnam, despite offering cash discounts of over 200 million VND for more than half a year.
Honda Accord
In addition to the overall decline in the D-segment sedan market, the Honda Accord faces challenges due to its high price of 1.319 billion VND and the availability of only one trim level. Furthermore, the model has not received any significant updates in recent times.
For those who prioritize spaciousness and driving pleasure, the Honda Accord remains a compelling choice. It is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 188 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and offers two driving modes: Eco and Sport.
