The current generation of the Toyota RAV4 has been on the market since 2018, so it’s no surprise that Toyota has been working on developing the next iteration of this compact SUV.
Recently, images purported to be of the next-generation Toyota RAV4 were leaked on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo. According to sources, these images were taken during a dealer conference of the GAC-Toyota joint venture in China.
In the neighboring market to Vietnam, this model is expected to be named the Wildlander, while in global markets, it will retain the familiar name of Toyota RAV4.
Leaked images of the alleged new-generation Toyota RAV4, poised to challenge the Honda CR-V.

The vehicle in the leaked images bears a strong resemblance to the Toyota RAV4 prototypes spotted on the roads recently. The design has evidently undergone significant changes compared to the current RAV4 models on the market.
The 2025 Toyota RAV4 also adopts a new design language, similar to other vehicles in the Toyota lineup. This is evident in the front end, which takes inspiration from the hammerhead shark.
A standout feature of the 2026 Toyota RAV4 is its new grille with honeycomb mesh and body-colored paint, matching the front bumper. Sitting above the grille are sleek headlights, surrounded by C-shaped LED daytime running lights.
Additionally, the 2025 RAV4 features a central air intake and wide air intakes at the corners of the front end, enhancing engine cooling and aerodynamic performance. A silver-colored faux skid plate sits below the bumper.
The square wheel arches are accented with black plastic cladding, and the alloy wheels feature a robust five-twin-spoke design. The side profile of the 2025 RAV4 is more impressive, thanks to intricate creases and lines, while the blacked-out pillars create a floating roof effect.
Unfortunately, the remaining exterior and interior details remain under wraps, as do the technical specifications.
It is likely that the new Toyota RAV4 will continue to be based on the TNGA-K platform. It wouldn’t be surprising if this compact SUV were offered solely with hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, following Toyota’s current direction. The PHEV version is expected to offer a longer all-electric range, possibly up to 130 km. Rumors also suggest that a new all-electric EV variant will join the lineup.
The 2025 Toyota RAV4 is predicted to make its official debut in the Chinese market at the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year.
