In recent years, Art Basel in Miami has become an increasingly important highlight in the social calendar of the wealthy, offering luxury brands an opportunity to showcase their latest creations to the select few who can afford them.

True to the event’s name, there is a lot of art on display, and this special Pagani Zonda-inspired piece may be the star exhibit this year.

This notable piece is by Uruguayan artist Joaquin Arbiza and is a full-size replica of the Pagani Zonda F made entirely from Uruguayan peso coins. Commissioned by car collector Jorge Gomez, the artwork took three years to complete, longer than it takes Pagani to build one of their beloved V12 supercars.

Each individual component of a real Zonda has been replicated and crafted from gold coins, soldered together. In total, there are over 100,000 coins and half a million solder points.

Some of the coins at the front have been painted black and arranged to form a portrait of Lionel Messi. Clearly, the artist and owner of this special car are big fans of the legendary Argentinian footballer.

Many coins had to be bent to mimic some of the curves and design elements of the Zonda. The attention to detail is remarkable, and even the wheels and tires are made from coins. This unique creation weighs approximately 1,250 kg, equivalent to a legal Zonda.
