The automotive industry in 2024 has witnessed the launch of numerous new models, and several recently-launched vehicles are now being offered with attractive incentives, with discounts reaching up to hundreds of millions of VND.

Subaru Crosstrek Offered with Discounts

The Subaru Crosstrek, introduced by the Japanese automaker at the VMS 2024 exhibition held in Ho Chi Minh City in October, is positioned in the B/B+ SUV segment. Subaru Crosstrek offers two versions with respective price tags of 1.098 billion VND and 1.268 billion VND.

During the VMS 2024, Subaru announced a promotional price of 999 million VND for the B+ SUV model, limited to the first 99 vehicles sold at the exhibition.

However, the Japanese automaker has recently decided to extend the duration of this promotional price for the “newbie” Crosstrek.

The promotional prices of 999 million VND for the Crosstrek 2.0 i-S EyeSight and 1.169 billion VND for the 2.0 i-S EyeSight e-Boxer Hybrid version will be valid until the end of January 2025. Compared to the initial prices, both versions of the Subaru Crosstrek in Vietnam are now discounted by 99 million VND.

For customers who place orders and take delivery of the Crosstrek within 2024, Subaru is offering an additional free one-year or 20,000 km maintenance package.

The Subaru Crosstrek boasts dimensions of 4,480 x 1,800 x 1,580 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm and a ground clearance of 200 mm.

The vehicle is equipped with the advanced EyeSight 4.0 safety technology, which now includes a single camera with a wide-angle lens. The Subaru Crosstrek offers two engine options: the Boxer 2.0L gasoline engine and the e-Boxer hybrid 2.0L engine.

Competitors of the Subaru Crosstrek in this segment include the Mitsubishi Xforce, Toyota Yaris Cross, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-3, Mazda CX-30, Lynk & Co 06, and Omoda C5, as well as several electric vehicle models such as the BYD Atto 3, MG4 EV, and GAC Aion Y Plus.

Omoda C5 Debuts with Promotions

The urban SUV segment in Vietnam is currently one of the hottest in the market, with around 20 models vying for dominance.

The latest entrant to this segment is the Omoda C5, the first vehicle to bear the Omoda marque, a brand owned by the Chery group, following a lengthy period of preparation for the Vietnamese market.

The Omoda C5 was unveiled to the Vietnamese public in the last week of November, with two versions: Premium and Flagship, priced at 589 million VND and 669 million VND, respectively.

During December, Vietnamese customers who purchase the Omoda C5 will be eligible for benefits including one year of hull insurance and free maintenance services for two years or 20,000 km. The total value of these incentives is 15 million VND, applicable to the first 200 customers who place a deposit of at least 10 million VND.

The Omoda C5 boasts dimensions of 4,500 x 1,842 x 1,746 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. Both versions feature 18-inch rims, differing only in design.

The Flagship version of the Omoda C5 boasts additional features such as a panoramic sunroof, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat, PM2.5 air filtration system, and an 8-speaker Sony audio system.

The Omoda C5 is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine, generating 145 horsepower and a maximum torque of 210 Nm.

Rivals of the Omoda C5 include other B/B+ SUV/crossover models, including the recently launched Subaru Crosstrek.

Electric Vehicles Come with Charging Incentives

In addition to VinFast, several new electric vehicle brands have entered the Vietnamese market in 2024, including BYD, GAC Aion, and the soon-to-be-launched Zeekr.

Some existing automakers in Vietnam have also expanded their product ranges to include electric vehicles, such as the MG4 EV and MG Cyberster from MG, and most recently, the Wuling Bingo, introduced by the Wuling brand under TMT Motors.

The MG4 EV was launched in Vietnam in early June, while the MG Cyberster, an electric roadster, began limited sales in the country in October.

Both the MG4 EV and MG Cyberster come with a complimentary 7 kW charger, free charging for 12 months at the brand’s public charging network, and a one-for-one battery warranty for seven years.

The MG4 EV is offered in two versions in Vietnam, priced at 828 million VND and 948 million VND, respectively. The vehicle is equipped with an electric motor generating 168-201 horsepower, depending on the version, and offers a maximum driving range of 350-450 km, depending on the battery pack.

The MG Cyberster, priced at 3.2 billion VND, is powered by a motor that delivers a maximum output of 536 horsepower and a peak torque of 725 Nm, coupled with an all-wheel-drive system that enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

A similar program is offered to customers who place a deposit on the Wuling Bingo, valid until the end of December.

Specifically, customers who place a deposit on the Wuling Bingo will receive a complimentary AC charger, free charging for one year, and a portable DC 7kW charger. The total value of these incentives is approximately 26 million VND.

GAC Aion is offering similar incentives to customers who purchase their first electric vehicles in Vietnam, the ES (788 million VND) and Y Plus (888 million VND) models.

The benefits for buyers of GAC Aion electric vehicles include free maintenance and charging for three years at the dealership, three years of physical damage insurance, and a complimentary travel charger.

Overall, the promotional programs offered by electric vehicle brands during their initial launch phase primarily focus on addressing customers’ concerns about charging, which is one of the main obstacles that electric vehicle companies must overcome to win over Vietnamese consumers.
