According to Tri Thức – Znews, the Geely Coolray is expected to be launched in Vietnam soon. Known as the Proton X50 in Malaysia and Belgee X50 in Russia, the Coolray was originally a Proton model, a Malaysian domestic brand acquired by the Geely Group.
With dimensions of 4,330 x 1,800 x 1,609 mm (LxWxH) and a wheelbase of 2,600 mm, the Coolray will be positioned in the B/B+ SUV segment in Vietnam. Sporting a bold and dynamic design, the Coolray features a large honeycomb grille that stretches to the front bumper, paired with matrix LED headlights. The aggressive styling is further enhanced by sharply cut air intakes.
The Coolray rides on 18-inch Tomahawk alloy wheels and sports red brake calipers. The rear end showcases a robust design with a spoiler, horizontal LED taillights, and a dual exhaust system integrated into the rear bumper with red accents.

The interior of the Coolray boasts a modern design, featuring a large central infotainment screen seamlessly integrated with the digital instrument cluster, and a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel. For the 2024 model year, the Coolray receives an upgraded electronic gear selector with AI technology to prevent incorrect gear shifts and “vehicle drifting.”
Under the hood, the Coolray is expected to be powered by a 1.5-liter TGDI 3-cylinder engine, offering between 149-176 horsepower and 226-255 Nm of torque, depending on the variant.
In Malaysia, the Coolray is priced between 19,140 and 25,129 USD. Upon its launch in Vietnam, the Coolray will face competition from rivals such as the Mitsubishi Xforce, Toyota Yaris Cross, GAC Aion Y Plus, Lynk & Co 06, and the Omoda C5.
Recently, Tasco, a distributor, announced plans to introduce electric vehicles under the Zeekr brand, also part of the Geely Group. However, details regarding pricing and availability for the Zeekr models are yet to be revealed.
