According to Carscoops, the collision between the BMW X5 and the train occurred earlier this week in Ravno Pole, Bulgaria. Seeing the SUV sliced in half, one might assume the incident would result in severe casualties.
However, the 23-year-old driver of the BMW SUV miraculously survived with almost no serious injuries despite driving straight into the path of an oncoming train at a level crossing.
Security camera footage shows the white BMW X5 approaching the railway crossing, seemingly unaware of the approaching train or choosing to ignore the warning lights and descending barrier. The SUV then collides with the train tracks almost immediately.
Images shared on the social media platform Reddit reveal the BMW being pushed away, split into two. The rear end of the car is flung onto the platform, while the front half is pushed along the tracks by the train. Nearly all the windows are shattered, and the body of the vehicle is completely deformed.
Astonishingly, according to Carscoops, the young driver escaped without any significant injuries. It is fortunate that there were no passengers in the back seat, as the state of the BMW X5 indicates that anyone sitting there would have faced serious life-threatening danger.

According to Plovdiv Press, six people have died and four others have been injured in Bulgaria this year (2023) due to illegal crossings.
As of 2024, Bulgaria has already recorded three fatalities and six injuries in similar incidents.
To prevent such incidents in the future, local authorities are reportedly planning to expand the size of the barriers to cover the entire width of the road, making it more challenging for reckless drivers to access the tracks when a train is approaching.
