Specifically, at 8:54 am on February 4th, at Km405 on the National Highway 45 – Nghi Son – Dien Chau – Bai Vot expressway (in the area of Quynh Luu intersection, Nghe An province), Ms. Vo Thi Thu H., driving a car with license plate 37K-244.XX, was traveling in the opposite direction, posing a danger to other vehicles.

In her statement to the traffic police, Ms. H. explained that she was unfamiliar with the route and relied on the directions provided by an electronic map application (Google Maps), which led her to mistakenly enter the opposite lane of the expressway entrance.

Based on the provisions of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (amended and supplemented by Decree 123/2021/ND-CP), the 4th Highway Patrol and Control Team issued an administrative fine to Ms. H., imposing a penalty of 19 million VND and deducting 4 points from her driver’s license as stipulated in Decree 168/2023/ND-CP.

Previously, on the afternoon of January 30th, the 2nd Highway Patrol and Control Team (Traffic Police Department) also fined a female driver with license plate 14C-366.XX for the same offense of driving against the flow of traffic on the Hanoi – Hai Phong expressway.

The traffic police urged road users to be familiar with their routes, strictly comply with traffic safety regulations, especially on expressways, to ensure their safety and the safety of other vehicles.
