BMW has recently taken the wraps off the long-wheelbase version of its X3 G48, exclusively for the Chinese market.

The BMW X3 G48 is now on display at dealerships across China, ahead of its official launch on February 28. The model on display is the top-of-the-line variant, equipped with the M-Sport package, lending it a sportier and more dynamic appearance.

The BMW X3 G48 boasts dimensions of 4,865 x 1,920 x 1,664 mm (LxWxH), with a wheelbase of 2,975 mm. Compared to the global version (codenamed G45), the Chinese-market X3 is 30 mm longer and wider. It also sports a more modern and sleek design, featuring a large illuminated kidney grille, sleek door handles, a sloping roofline, and sharp taillights.

The extended wheelbase, similar to that of the BMW X5, results in a significantly more spacious and comfortable cabin. The interior is packed with convenient features, including a three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel, a curved 14.9-inch display, a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display (HUD), a center console with wireless phone charging, a compact gear selector, a panoramic sunroof, and optional rear-seat climate control.

Under the hood, the BMW X3 long-wheelbase model offers two engine options. The high-end variant is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine, producing 258 horsepower. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

The standard BMW X3 G48, on the other hand, is equipped with a less powerful 2.0L engine, generating 188 horsepower. This engine is also paired with the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, but it may not come with all-wheel drive.

The BMW X3 G48 will go on sale in China on February 28, with pricing details yet to be announced.
