The Subaru Forester Hybrid is coming to the US market in mid-2025, the company has confirmed on its website. This new version will retain the familiar Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system while offering improved performance and optimized fuel efficiency.
The Forester Hybrid is expected to feature the same hybrid technology as the recently unveiled Crosstrek Hybrid in Japan. This hybrid system is a parallel hybrid, seamlessly switching between electric and gasoline power depending on driving conditions.
In the Crosstrek Hybrid, the powerplant combines a 2.5L gasoline engine with two electric motors. The first motor drives the wheels and delivers 118 horsepower, while the second motor functions as a generator. The generated electrical energy is stored in a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is not too large but still sufficient to reduce fuel consumption.
Subaru has leveraged Toyota’s hybrid engine expertise to develop this new powertrain as part of the collaboration between the two brands. Subaru claims that the new technology improves fuel efficiency by 20% compared to its current e-Boxer hybrid system.

In terms of design, the hybrid variant retains the familiar look of the gasoline-powered model, with the addition of a hybrid badge on the rear hatch.
The 2025 Subaru Forester is already on sale in the US, starting at $29,695. The hybrid version will likely carry a higher price tag. In the Vietnamese market, the Subaru Forester is available in three trim levels: i-L, i-L EyeSight, and i-S EyeSight, ranging from 969 million VND to 1.199 billion VND.
