Ford Vietnam Recalls 4,142 Explorer SUVs Due to Misaligned Pillar A Trim
Ford has announced a recall campaign for its luxury large SUV, the Ford Explorer, in Vietnam. This recall affects 4,142 vehicles produced between May 17, 2010, and March 3, 2019.
According to Ford, the affected Explorer SUVs may experience an issue where some of the clips holding the outer trim of Pillar A are not engaged correctly. As a result, the Pillar A trim may become loose, partially detach, or fall off. This issue could be due to improper assembly or repair techniques.
To address this problem, Ford has authorized its nationwide dealer network to inspect and repair the affected vehicles free of charge. The estimated time required for this process is less than half a day. However, due to repair scheduling requirements, dealerships may need to keep the vehicles for a more extended period.
Ford Vietnam has directly notified customers who own the affected vehicles. Additionally, the company has published detailed information about this recall on its official website.
The Ford Explorer has been officially distributed in the Vietnamese market since 2016. The current version is the sixth generation, launched in February 2022. It competes directly with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Volkswagen Teramont, and Hyundai Palisade in the large SUV segment.
The Explorer is imported from the United States as a completely built unit and is offered in a single version priced at 1.999 billion VND. It is powered by a refined 2.3L Ecoboost engine that delivers 301 horsepower and 432 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
