The Geely Galaxy L7 EM-i: A Sleek Hybrid with a Smart Cockpit

Geely has recently unveiled the Galaxy L7 EM-i, offering four variants with starting prices ranging from 115,800 to 148,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 16,000 to 20,500 USD or 406 to 520 million VND). This new model boasts Geely’s latest NordThor hybrid system and the intelligent Flyme Auto cockpit system.

The Geely Galaxy L7 EM-i is designed based on the Geely Galaxy L7. The front of the vehicle features a sleek LED headlight cluster and a closed-off grille, while the rear is adorned with the EM-i logo.

The interior design of the Geely Galaxy L7 EM-i remains largely unchanged. The vehicle is powered by the intelligent Flyme Auto cockpit system, featuring a standard 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, a 13.2-inch central control screen, and a 16.2-inch entertainment screen. It supports dual-screen linkage, multitasking, CarLink, and mobile phone connectivity via Hicar. Interestingly, Geely opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip instead of their own Dragon Eagle-1 chip to power the cockpit.

In terms of dimensions, the Geely Galaxy L7 EM-i measures 4710 mm in length, 1905 mm in width, and 1685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2785 mm; a 10 cm increase in length compared to its predecessor. The curb weight of the vehicle ranges from 1810 kg to 1890 kg depending on the variant.

The Galaxy L7 EM-i’s powertrain is equipped with Geely’s latest NordThor EM-i hybrid technology. Specifically, it utilizes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 82 kW (110 hp) and 136 Nm of torque, paired with a 160 kW (215 hp) and 262 Nm electric motor, along with an E-DHT and a 18.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. This setup provides an all-electric range of 115 km on the CLTC cycle.

Additionally, the vehicle is offered with a 1.5T engine generating 120 kW (161 hp) and 255 Nm of torque, combined with a 107 kW (143 hp) and 338 Nm electric motor, a 3DHT pro, and an 18.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. This configuration delivers an electric range of 115 km on the CLTC cycle.

According to the manufacturer, the Geely Galaxy L7 EM-i’s fuel consumption ranges from 1.05L to 1.3L per 100 km, with a comprehensive range of 1,240 km. Geely also states that the vehicle can increase its range from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes when using fast charging, while slow charging takes between 2.7 and 3 hours.
