Honda Vietnam has updated the pricing for the Honda Civic Type R on its official website, increasing it from 2.399 billion VND to 2.999 billion VND, an approximate surge of 600 million VND.

The new-generation Honda Civic Type R was first introduced to the Vietnamese market at the VMS 2022 exhibition and subsequently launched with an official price of 2.399 billion VND in early 2023.

Under the hood, it’s equipped with a 2.0L VTEC turbocharged engine, generating a maximum output of 315 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 420 Nm between 2,600 and 4,000 rpm. The Honda Civic Type R is capable of reaching a top speed of 272 km/h.

The car features a 6-speed manual transmission with four driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Individual, and +R.

Standard equipment includes 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, along with a Brembo braking system and rev-matching for smoother downshifts.

In Vietnam, the Honda Civic Type R is offered exclusively with a sports interior featuring red suede-like upholstery and red seat belts.

As a niche model, Honda doesn’t focus heavily on the sales volume of the Civic Type R. In the first eleven months of 2024, eleven units of this hot hatch, imported directly from Japan, found their owners in Vietnam, averaging one car per month.

In August 2024, the pricing for the Honda Civic Type R in the US also underwent a change. Specifically, the starting price for the 2025 model year was announced at $46,690, an increase of $800 compared to the 2024 model, and a significant jump of $2,700 from the 2023 model year.

The Honda Civic Type R competes against rivals such as the Subaru WRX (2.049 billion VND) and the Hyundai Elantra N in the Vietnamese market.
