As is customary, the Vietnamese auto market entered a slump after the Tet holiday. This period witnesses automakers and dealerships offering promotions to stimulate sales. Suzuki is no exception to this trend.

This February, Suzuki is offering a 50% discount on registration fees and a cash incentive of 20 million VND for purchasers of their compact SUV, the Jimny. In Vietnam, the Suzuki Jimny is priced from 789 to 799 million VND. The registration fee discount alone amounts to approximately 40 million VND. Combined with the cash incentive, the total discount offered by the manufacturer for this model, affectionately dubbed the “mini Mercedes-Benz G-Class,” reaches 60 million VND this month.

Dealerships are also offering their own discounts on this small SUV, adding an extra 15 to 20 million VND to the total savings. For the first time, the Suzuki Jimny is being offered with a staggering 80 million VND in discounts in the Vietnamese market.

The “mini Mercedes-Benz G-Class” Suzuki Jimny sees an 80 million VND price reduction to stimulate demand.

It is worth noting that all Suzuki Jimny models included in this promotion are 2024 productions (as indicated by the 2024 VIN). The 2025 VIN version of this model has not yet been introduced in Vietnam, making this promotion a strategic move to clear out inventory.

Suzuki is also offering a 50% discount on registration fees for their other passenger vehicle, the XL7, amounting to approximately 30 million VND.

Introduced to the Vietnamese market in March 2024, the Suzuki Jimny has not achieved remarkable sales figures. Cumulative sales for 2024 stood at 437 units, with only 16 vehicles sold in January 2025.

The relatively high price, coupled with limited dimensions and features, has made the model less appealing to Vietnamese buyers. Additionally, the Suzuki Jimny is imported in limited quantities, which may also contribute to its lackluster sales performance.

Despite its price, which rivals that of C-segment SUVs such as the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Ford Territory, the Suzuki Jimny only offers a 4-seat interior. Its features include LED headlights, 15-inch alloy wheels, a spare tire mounted on the rear door, an analog instrument cluster with a small multi-information display, a grab handle for the front passenger on the dashboard, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Autolink, USB, and Bluetooth Control Music Play, among others.

The Suzuki Jimny’s strengths lie in its eye-catching exterior design and a true SUV ladder frame. It is powered by a 1.5L K15B gasoline engine with four cylinders, producing a maximum output of 101 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system, AllGrip Pro, which includes a low-range transfer case. The vehicle also offers the flexibility to switch between two-wheel and four-wheel drive.

Rumors suggest that Suzuki may introduce a 5-door version of the Jimny in Vietnam later this year.
