C-size SUV Sales Table for Jan 2025 (unit: cars)

Mazda CX-5: 1,000 cars

In January 2025, Mazda sold 1,000 CX-5 units in Vietnam, an 11.1% decrease. Despite this, it remains the best-selling C-size SUV in the country. The CX-5 also made it to the top 10 best-selling cars in the overall market for the month. It is one of only four models with sales exceeding 1,000 units, alongside VinFast VF 3, VinFast VF 5, and Ford Ranger.

Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 is currently one of the most affordable options, with prices ranging from 749 to 979 million VND for seven different versions. Its success formula includes competitive pricing, designs that cater to Vietnamese tastes, and a full range of convenience and safety features.

In Vietnam, the Mazda CX-5 offers two gasoline engine options with 2.0L and 2.5L displacements. These engines produce 154 horsepower/200 Nm and 188 horsepower/252 Nm, respectively. They are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Ford Territory: 700 cars

The Ford Territory was the only C-size SUV to experience sales growth in January 2025. With 700 units sold, it saw a 14.3% increase compared to the previous month. As a result, it climbed to the second position in the segment, surpassing the Hyundai Tucson.

Ford Territory

Similar to its rival, the Mazda CX-5, the Ford Territory boasts competitive pricing, ranging from 759 to 889 million VND. It also features a modern design, spacious interior, and comparable equipment. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 160 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Tucson: 476 cars

Ranking third in the C-size SUV segment for January was the Hyundai Tucson. Its sales dropped by 50.9% to 476 units, causing it to lose its second-place position to the Ford Territory.

Hyundai Tucson

The competitive pricing of the Hyundai Tucson, starting at 769 to 979 million VND for four versions, is one of its key advantages. It also stands out with its unique and stylish design, spacious interior thanks to its large wheelbase, and a full range of convenience and safety features.

Additionally, the Hyundai Tucson offers three engine options: the Smartstream 2.0l MPI gasoline engine, the Smartstream Diesel D2.0 engine, and the Smartstream 1.6L T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine. These engines produce 156 horsepower/192 Nm, 186 horsepower/416 Nm, and 180 horsepower/265 Nm, respectively. They are paired with either a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission.

Honda CR-V: 453 cars

Like most of its competitors in the segment, the Honda CR-V experienced a sales decline in the first month of the year. Its sales reached 453 units, a slight decrease of 6.4%. With these results, the Honda CR-V currently holds the fourth position in the C-size SUV segment.

Honda CR-V

To stimulate demand, Honda is offering a 100% registration fee support for the G standard version during February 2025, reducing the starting price to just over 900 million VND. For the L version, they are providing a 50% discount on the registration fee.

The Honda CR-V doesn’t have a pricing advantage in Vietnam, with prices ranging from 1.029 to 1.259 billion VND. However, it makes up for this with its eye-catching design and comprehensive equipment. Additionally, it is one of the few models in the segment to offer a hybrid engine option for better fuel efficiency.

Specifically, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 146 horsepower. This is combined with two electric motors, resulting in a total output of 181 horsepower. The total power output of the system is 204 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the other three versions of the Honda CR-V are powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Kia Sportage: 137 cars

January 2025 was not a prosperous month for the Kia Sportage either, as its sales dropped by 22.1% to 137 units. This performance keeps the Kia model towards the bottom of the C-size SUV segment.

Kia Sportage

For February 2025, Kia is offering a 5 million VND discount on all six versions of the Sportage. After the discount, prices range from 819 to 999 million VND, which is not particularly attractive for the segment. The exterior design of the Kia Sportage is also considered less appealing to some customers.

Under the hood, the Kia Sportage shares the same three engine options as the Hyundai Tucson, as they are both produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.

Mitsubishi Outlander: 32 cars

The Mitsubishi Outlander maintains its position as the least sold C-size SUV in Vietnam. In January, it recorded sales of only 32 units, a significant drop of 60.9%.

Mitsubishi Outlander

Mitsubishi is offering promotional packages for the Outlander in February, including a 50% registration fee support, a 10 million VND fuel voucher, and a 360-degree camera worth 20 million VND for the CVT version. The total value of these incentives is approximately 70 million VND.

Despite frequent promotions, the Mitsubishi Outlander continues to struggle in sales due to its high prices, ranging from 825 to 950 million VND. Additionally, the model hasn’t received significant upgrades in terms of design or features for quite some time.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 145 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. It is paired with a CVT transmission.
