D-SUV Sales Table for January 2025 (unit: car)

Ford Everest: 300 units

In January 2025, Ford sold only 300 Everest units to Vietnamese consumers, a decrease of 68.3%. It can be said that this is a rare month when this model has sales of less than 500 units in the Vietnamese market. However, the Ford Everest still leads the D-SUV segment in terms of sales.

Ford Everest

In February 2025, Ford Everest is offering a 50% discount on registration fees for the Ambiente standard version. The value of this promotion is approximately VND 55 million.

This mid-size SUV currently has 6 versions and is priced from VND 1,099 billion to VND 1,545 billion. The car has the highest selling price in the segment but is still popular due to its attractive design and features.

The Ford Everest in Vietnam has 2 diesel engine options with the same 2.0L capacity. The first is a single-turbo engine with a maximum output of 170 horsepower and a maximum torque of 405 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The corresponding figures for the twin-turbo engine are 210 horsepower and 500 Nm. The twin-turbo engine is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission and is exclusive to the high-end versions.

Mazda CX-8: 205 units

The Mazda CX-8 was the model with the most stable performance in the D-SUV segment in the past January, with sales down slightly by 0.4% to 205 units. With this sales figure, the CX-8 has risen to second place in the segment, surpassing both the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Toyota Fortuner.

Mazda CX-8

The Mazda CX-8 was upgraded in November 2024. It is currently priced from VND 969 million to VND 1,149 billion.

The new version features a design upgrade in the style of the CX-5, making it look more modern and appealing. In addition, it offers new features such as Chroma Brown Nappa leather seats, tire pressure sensors, and driving support systems for highways and congested roads.

Under the hood of this model is a 2.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 188 horsepower and a maximum torque of 252 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5 Luxury and 2.5 Premium versions use front-wheel drive, while the 2.5 Signature AWD is equipped with all-wheel drive.

Toyota Fortuner: 191 units

In the previous months, the Toyota Fortuner often sold fewer units than the Ford Everest and the Hyundai Santa Fe. However, in January, the Toyota model outsold its Korean rival. Accordingly, the car sold 191 units, a decrease of 35.2%.

Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner is currently priced from VND 1,055 billion to VND 1,35 billion. For this price, customers will receive a spacious 7-seat SUV with features such as a 9-inch touchscreen center display and wireless connectivity with smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Toyota Fortuner is equipped with 3 types of engines, including a 2.4L diesel engine, a 2.8L diesel engine, and a 2.7L gasoline engine. The respective performance figures for these 3 engines are 147 horsepower/400 Nm, 201 horsepower/500 Nm, and 164 horsepower/245 Nm. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel drive or 4WD.

Hyundai Santa Fe: 155 units

The Hyundai Santa Fe was the model with the highest sales decline in the D-SUV segment in January 2025. The model sold 155 units, a decrease of 81.3%. As a result, the Hyundai Santa Fe dropped to fourth place in the segment.

Hyundai Santa Fe

The Hyundai Santa Fe in Vietnam was upgraded to a new generation in 2024 with 5 versions and prices ranging from VND 1,069 billion to VND 1,365 billion. The new generation features comprehensive changes in design, features, and engines.

The power source for this Korean model is a 2.5L Smartstream 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that produces a maximum output of 194 horsepower and a maximum torque of 246 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system.

The second option is a 2.5L Smartstream 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with a maximum output of 281 horsepower and a maximum torque of 422 Nm. The engine is paired with a wet 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system.

Kia Sorento: 52 units

The Kia Sorento ranked fifth in the D-SUV segment with 52 units sold, a decrease of 23.5%. To improve this situation, the car is being offered with a discount of VND 10-55 million on gasoline and diesel versions during February 2025. Meanwhile, the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions are being offered with a discount of VND 72-110 million. The actual selling price of the car currently ranges from VND 954 million to VND 1,424 billion.

Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento has the most versions and diverse engine options in the D-SUV segment, with up to 4 choices. The first is the Smartstream 2.5 MPI gasoline engine, which produces a maximum output of 177 horsepower and a maximum torque of 232 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The corresponding figures for the Smartstream D2.2 diesel engine are 198 horsepower and 440 Nm, combined with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The third option is a hybrid powertrain with a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine producing 178 horsepower and a maximum torque of 265 Nm. The engine is combined with an electric motor that generates 60 horsepower/264 Nm and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Finally, the plug-in hybrid powertrain features the same 1.6L gasoline engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the engine is paired with an electric motor that delivers 90 horsepower and 304 Nm.

Isuzu mu-X: 26 units

January 2025 witnessed the rise of the Isuzu mu-X, which climbed out of the last position in the D-SUV segment. In the past month, the car sold 26 units, a decrease of 18.7%. Moreover, the model also climbed out of the top 10 worst-selling cars in the market in January 2025.

Isuzu mu-X

The Isuzu mu-X has a relatively low price in the segment, ranging from VND 911 million to VND 1,25 billion. However, the car has not performed well in terms of sales due to its unappealing design and features.

The “heart” of the Isuzu mu-X is a 1.9L 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. In the highest-end version, the engine is combined with all-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The remaining versions will come with rear-wheel drive.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport: 17 units

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was the model with the lowest sales in the D-SUV segment in January 2025, replacing the Isuzu mu-X. The Japanese model sold only 17 units, a decrease of up to 80%, and entered the top 10 worst-selling cars in the market. One of the reasons for this result is likely due to the fact that, in the past few months, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has not had any promotions or discounts.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in Vietnam has 2 versions and is priced from VND 1,13 billion to VND 1,365 billion. Not only is the price uncompetitive, but the design and features of this model also fail to keep up with its rivals.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is equipped with a 2.4L MIVEC diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 178 horsepower and a maximum torque of 430 Nm. The model still offers two types of drivetrains: one-wheel drive and two-wheel drive, along with a rear differential lock.
