In a recent report, BASF – the world’s largest chemical company and a leading paint supplier – unveiled its annual color trend forecast for 2024.
According to BASF’s research, today’s automotive palette features brighter and more vibrant colors than before. More complex color options are also on the rise. For instance, yellow and green hues are becoming more prevalent and emerging as popular choices.
For 2024, the popular paint colors are expected to be a mix of safe, light, and warm tones with a positive slant.
In the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), the trend for car paint colors will lean towards neutral shades, with gray and black being the most common choices. Interestingly, beige has gained popularity in Europe, doubling its market share compared to previous years. Conversely, white and blue have lost some of their market share in 2024.
In the Americas, gray has seen a 10% market share increase for 2024, while shades of blue and green have also experienced a slight uptick. Meanwhile, white has lost 5% of its share, and black, a previously favored color, has seen a minor decline.
In the Asia-Pacific region, black remains dominant, while white continues to lose market share.
