The story of Minh “Nhựa”‘s McLaren Elva, a car without a roof, windows, or windshield, has been a hot topic of discussion among the online community for almost four years. The narrative began when Minh “Nhựa” first laid eyes on the displayed Elva, and it continued through the process of placing a deposit, revealing the purchase price of 143 billion VND, and finally, the car’s arrival in the country but inability to pass inspection for the past two years.

Despite all the challenges, the McLaren Elva has finally taken its place in Minh “Nhựa”‘s garage, now complete with a windshield, inspection sticker, road fees, and of course, a license plate. However, the online community hasn’t let Minh “Nhựa” off the hook just yet, as they pounced on the revelation that the Elva’s license plate number is 51N-00.405.

If you think the McLaren Elva’s license plate is too ordinary, it actually holds a special meaning for Minh “Nhựa.” He spent 40 million VND to get the license plate number he had always wanted, and it also pairs perfectly with the license plate of his Pagani Huayra—a true testament to his taste for luxury.

Specifically, last year, Minh “Nhựa” registered the license plate for his Pagani Huayra after transferring ownership from his father. He was lucky enough to get the number 51L-00.405, and as you can see, the McLaren Elva’s license plate is identical except for the letter.

For Minh “Nhựa” and his family, the number 405 has been significant for decades, as it relates to their business in the plastics industry. Before acquiring the 405 license plates for the McLaren Elva and Pagani Huayra, he would often display the number 405 on his other supercars and luxury vehicles.

Minh “Nhựa” revealed that the McLaren Elva actually cost him 8 million USD, or nearly 190 billion VND, which is significantly more than the previously disclosed amount of 143 billion VND. This supercar was initially planned to have a production run of 399 units, but that number was later reduced to 299 and then again to just 149 by the British automaker.

Aside from its striking design, which stands out even among other McLaren models, the McLaren Elva is also impressive under the hood. It is equipped with a V8, twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter engine, similar to the ones found in the McLaren 720S, 720S Spider, and the hypercar McLaren Senna owned by Hoàng Kim Khánh.

This powerful engine delivers a maximum output of 804 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque to the Elva’s rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.
