The LS was the first commercial vehicle from Lexus to enter the UK market in 1990. This model marked the arrival of the Japanese luxury car brand in the country.
Now, after more than three decades, the LS has quietly been discontinued in the UK due to low sales. It’s not surprising that Lexus decided to stop selling this large luxury sedan in the UK given the low demand.
According to Autocar magazine, Lexus sold only three units of the LS in the UK throughout 2024. From 2020 until now, UK customers have purchased a total of 39 Lexus LS vehicles. With these numbers, the LS is the slowest-selling model for the Japanese brand in the UK.
In addition to consumer apathy, Lexus cited regulatory and legal challenges as additional reasons for withdrawing the LS from the UK market. According to a brand spokesperson, the target audience for the LS has been drawn to the luxury MPV, the Lexus LM. This has further reduced the demand for Lexus’ flagship sedan.
With the disappearance of the LS, the only luxury sedan that Lexus currently offers in the UK is the ES. The rest of the Lexus lineup in the UK mostly consists of SUVs such as the LBX, UX, NX, RZ, and RX, alongside the large MPV LM.
Prior to its discontinuation, the Lexus LS was priced between £101,000 and £128,000 (approximately $125,400 to $158,900), depending on the trim level. The LS500h, a hybrid model with a petrol V6 engine and two electric motors, was the version available to UK customers. All-wheel drive was offered as an option.
The Lexus LS remains on sale in other markets worldwide, including Japan, North America, and several European countries. In the US market, the LS sold 2,163 units, a 3.2% decrease compared to 2023.
In Vietnam, the large luxury sedan is offered in two versions: the LS 500 and the LS 500h. The respective prices for these versions are 7.68 billion and 8.39 billion VND.
Lexus does not disclose specific sales figures for each model in the Vietnamese market. In 2024, the brand sold a total of 1,552 luxury vehicles in Vietnam. This brings the cumulative sales of Lexus since its entry into the Vietnamese market to 13,812 units.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the flagship sedan has been abruptly discontinued in the UK market after a remarkable 30-year run.
