Mitsubishi unveiled the upgraded Outlander back in October last year, and now the popular SUV has been introduced in another key market – the United States.

For this new iteration, Mitsubishi has kept changes to a minimum when it comes to design and features. The most notable exterior updates are found in the front grille and bumper. Additionally, the Outlander now sports new alloy wheels with either an 18-inch or 20-inch diameter, depending on the trim level. At the rear, there’s a subtle update in the form of smoked tail light covers. Furthermore, buyers of the 2025 Outlander will be able to choose from a range of new exterior colors, including a stylish gray shade.

Inside the cabin, the compact SUV receives more significant updates. It now comes standard with a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen, complete with GPS navigation and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Below the screen sits a redesigned center console with repositioned cup holders.

Passengers will also appreciate the upgraded control buttons, larger armrests, and more premium interior materials. For in-car entertainment, Mitsubishi has fitted the Outlander with a new Yamaha audio system, offering either an 8-speaker or 12-speaker setup.

Mitsubishi has also implemented a series of refinements to reduce noise intrusion. According to the Japanese automaker, external noise has been reduced by 0.5 dB, while overall cabin insulation has improved by nearly 6 dB compared to the previous model.

To enhance the driving experience, Mitsubishi has equipped the Outlander with a refined steering system, delivering more precise feedback. This is complemented by tuned springs, shocks, and sway bars.

Under the hood, the US-spec 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander retains the familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 181 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. It’s mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and all-wheel drive is offered as an option for $1,800.

Unlike its Japanese and European counterparts, the US version of the Outlander does not offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. The PHEV model features a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 134 horsepower and 203 Nm of torque. This is combined with an electric motor on the front axle, delivering 114 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. The rear axle also gets its own electric motor, generating 134 horsepower and 195 Nm of torque.

In total, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has a combined output of 302 horsepower, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. When running solely on electric power, it can reach a top speed of 135 km/h.

Additionally, the PHEV model benefits from a larger 22.7 kWh battery and a 53-liter fuel tank. As a result, it offers an impressive all-electric range of 86 km on the WLTP cycle, while returning an extremely efficient 0.8 liters per 100 km in fuel consumption. With a full battery and a full tank of gas, the Outlander PHEV can cover up to 844 km.

In the US, the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander is offered in six trim levels, with prices ranging from $29,645 to $43,145. The starting price represents an increase of $1,250 compared to the previous model.
