On February 25, 2025, the People’s Committee of Da Nang City and Vingroup signed a Memorandum of Understanding on comprehensive cooperation for green and digital transformation towards sustainable development goals, responding to the government’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.

According to the cooperation agreement, the People’s Committee of Da Nang and Vingroup will jointly develop a program towards sustainable development in the period of 2025-2030, investing and cooperating in fields such as green tourism, green transportation, and green lifestyle…

Specifically, in the field of transportation, the two sides will jointly launch the movement “Fierce Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future”, encouraging local people to use electric vehicles, including cars, motorbikes, bicycles, and public transport such as taxis and buses. Vingroup and the People’s Committee will also research and develop an electric bus route connecting Da Nang and Hue, bringing convenience to local people and tourists.

In addition, Da Nang will study the implementation of electric buses in the city, ensuring compatibility with local conditions, practical situations, and the roadmap for green energy transition according to Decision No. 876 of the Prime Minister. The city will also create favorable conditions for Xanh SM to promote the operation of electric taxis, in line with Decision No. 1957 on green energy transition and the reduction of carbon and methane emissions in Da Nang’s transportation sector.

To ensure the smooth circulation of electric vehicles, the People’s Committee of Da Nang will research and support the planning and introduction of charging station installation locations for V-Green Company. They will also deploy mechanisms to support the development of charging infrastructure throughout the city. The two sides will also cooperate in developing carbon credit projects from electric vehicles and charging stations, completing procedures for carbon credit registration on international exchanges, ensuring legality and transferability to Vingroup or international partners when conditions are met.

In terms of green lifestyle, the two sides will jointly research and cooperate in developing green and smart urban areas, social housing projects in Lang Van and other areas, and study mechanisms and policies for the development of free trade areas and financial centers…

Additionally, both parties will consider cooperation in research and development, investing in projects for the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in Da Nang to support industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and high-quality human resources training.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang, said: “The cooperation between the two sides is of particular importance in promoting the city’s green transition process. With Vingroup’s potential, experience, and multi-sector ecosystem, along with the strong determination of the city government, I believe that this cooperation will open up new opportunities and make substantial contributions to the sustainable development of Da Nang.”
