2024 marked the year Chinese automotive brands began their foray into Vietnam. As we move into 2025, the Vietnamese automotive market is once again poised to welcome a host of new offerings from the populous country, spanning various segments.

Here is a list of Chinese automobiles that are set to be launched in Vietnam after the Lunar New Year of 2025.

BYD Sealion 6

According to Tri Thức – Znews, the Sealion 6 is the next vehicle to be introduced to the Vietnamese market this year, expanding BYD’s product lineup. Prior to this, information about the fuel economy of this SUV was revealed on the website of the Vehicle Registration Bureau.

As per the website, the Sealion is a plug-in hybrid SUV (PHEV). It combines a 1.5L gasoline engine with a 195 horsepower electric motor.

Details about the combined power output and dimensions have not been disclosed. The expected fuel consumption stands at 1.1 liters/100 km. Sources indicate that the Sealion 6 sold in Vietnam is likely to be the Dynamic trim.

The Sealion 6 measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm—placing it in the C-SUV segment in Vietnam.

In Thailand, this model is priced between 27,277 and 30,180 USD. Upon its launch, the Sealion 6 will compete with other hybrid offerings in its class, such as the Haval H6 (986 million VND), Honda CR-V e:HEV RS (1.259 billion VND), and the soon-to-be-released Jaecoo J7.

Jaecoo J7

Another Chinese C-SUV expected to debut in early 2025 is the Jaecoo J7. According to Geleximco, the distributor of Omoda and Jaecoo vehicles in Vietnam, the J7 will be launched in January and will feature a PHEV powertrain.

The Jaecoo J7 PHEV has dimensions of 4,500 mm in length, 1,863 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,672 mm. It is likely that the Vietnamese version will be equipped with a hybrid system combining a 1.5L gasoline engine with an electric motor, generating a combined output of 347 horsepower.

The Jaecoo J7 offers an impressive range of 1,200 km on a single charge and refueling. It can travel up to 106 km in pure electric mode.

Omoda – Jaecoo dealerships have started accepting reservations for this SUV since January 16. The first batch of vehicles is expected to be delivered before the Lunar New Year.

Geely Coolray

The Geely Coolray is anticipated to enter the Vietnamese market in early 2025, positioned within the B-SUV/B+-SUV segment. It boasts dimensions of 4,330 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,609 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.

In late 2024, this SUV was launched in Malaysia under the name Proton X50. If it follows the specifications of its Malaysian counterpart, the Coolray will be equipped with a 1.5L gasoline engine, generating approximately 149-176 horsepower depending on the variant.

In international markets, the B-SUV is priced between 19,140 and 23,129 USD. Tasco, the distributor of Geely vehicles in Vietnam, has recently established two dealerships in Hanoi. However, details regarding the launch date and pricing of the Coolray remain undisclosed.

Upon its release, the Coolray will face competition from popular models such as the Mitsubishi Xforce, Toyota Yaris Cross, Lynk & Co 06, and Omoda C5.

Wuling Electric Vehicle Lineup

TMT Motors has announced the introduction of seven SGMW models to Vietnam, including the Baojun E100, Yep and Yep Plus, miniEV Macaron 4, Hongguang EV MPV, and Zhiguang EV.

Among these, the Baojun E100 is the smallest, offering two seats and a wheelbase of 1,600 mm. It is powered by an electric motor that delivers 39 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. The Baojun E100 boasts an impressive range of 200 km on a single charge.

According to the TMT Motors website, the expected price of the Baojun E100 is below 150 million VND.
