VinFast’s Latest Update: Electric Vehicle Prices Slashed by up to VND 181 Million from March 2025

As of early March 2025, VinFast has announced a significant reduction in the selling price of its electric vehicles, with the entire range witnessing a price cut of up to VND 181 million.

The new pricing structure applies to vehicles sold with batteries included. From March 2025 onwards, VinFast electric vehicles will no longer offer the option to rent batteries. However, the new pricing for VinFast vehicles with included batteries presents a more attractive proposition, especially for the VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9 models.

According to the dealership, VinFast vehicles sold with batteries will be eligible for free charging until the end of 2027 (an extension from the previously announced deadline of June 30, 2027). Customers who are currently renting batteries for their electric vehicles can either continue with the rental option or choose to purchase the batteries at a discounted price. Should they decide to purchase, they will be entitled to an additional six months of free charging, valid until December 31, 2027.

The shift in VinFast’s battery policy is a response to the decreasing preference for battery rentals among customers. The majority of VinFast electric vehicle buyers now opt to purchase their vehicles with batteries included.

Following the government’s plan, the 100% registration fee exemption for electric vehicles will be reduced to 50% from March 2025 onwards. However, the Ministry of Finance has proposed to extend the full exemption until February 28, 2027. If approved, the on-road prices of some VinFast models with included batteries will be highly competitive compared to internal combustion engine vehicles in the same segment.

For instance, the VinFast VF 7, priced at VND 799 million, offers a comparable value proposition to the Mazda CX-5, priced at VND 749 million. Taking into account the registration fee, the Mazda CX-5’s price will exceed VND 820 million.
