According to Car Expert, the Mazda6 model will no longer be available in Australia after a 22-year run. While there is still existing inventory at dealerships across the country, production has come to a halt, including for both the sedan and wagon variants.

The discontinuation of the Mazda6 in Australia is a result of the Australian Design Rule 98/00 regulation, which came into effect on March 1. This rule mandates that all vehicles sold in Australia must be fitted with an autonomous emergency braking system (AEB) as standard.

First introduced in Australia in 2002, the Mazda6 has gone through six generations, with an estimated total sales volume of 150,000 units. However, the rise in popularity of SUVs has led to a decline in sales for this sedan model.

Prior to Australia, several other countries had already discontinued the sale of the Mazda6, including the United States and Canada in 2021, the United Kingdom in 2023, and China and Japan in 2024.

In the Vietnamese market, the Mazda6 continues to be officially distributed, offering five versions with two engine options: a 2.0L gasoline engine and a 2.5L gasoline engine. The price of this sedan ranges from 769 to 899 million VND.
