Toyota has introduced a new special edition of its Yaris Cross SUV, named the Z Urbano, exclusively for the Japanese market. This new variant is based on the high-end Z grade of the popular Toyota model.
To set itself apart from the standard model, the Toyota Yaris Cross Z Urbano features black exterior accents and a new logo. Specifically, the Toyota logo, side mirrors, door handles, roof spoiler, and even the model badge are all finished in black. Additionally, this special edition rides on exclusive 18-inch black alloy wheels.

Another distinctive feature of this special edition Yaris Cross in Japan is the Urbano badge on the front mudguard. In Italian, “Urbano” translates to “urban,” reflecting the vehicle’s city-oriented nature.
Inside, the Toyota Yaris Cross Z Urbano gains unique equipment, including illuminated scuff plates, door sills, floor mats, and a special steering wheel, all exclusive to this version. Being based on the high-grade model, the Z Urbano naturally comes with a full suite of convenience and safety features.

However, the Toyota Yaris Cross Z Urbano has a more limited exterior color palette compared to the standard model. It is offered in only two colors: Platinum White Pearl Mica and Massive Gray, both paired with a black roof and pillars.

Under the hood, the Toyota Yaris Cross Z Urbano is available with two powertrain options. The first is a 1.5-liter Dynamic Force 3-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 118 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a Direct Shift-CVT transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The second option is a hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor. The gasoline engine generates 91 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque, while the electric motor contributes 80 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. In the E-Four all-wheel-drive version, a second electric motor at the rear provides an additional 5.3 horsepower and 52 Nm of torque.
Toyota Yaris Cross Z Urbano retains the same powertrain options.
In the Japanese market, the Toyota Yaris Cross Z Urbano is priced between 2,623,500 and 3,228,500 Yen (approximately 446 to 548 million VND). It is currently the most expensive version of this B-segment SUV in Japan.
It is worth mentioning that the Toyota Yaris Cross sold in Japan is different from the model of the same name available in Vietnam. While both fall under the B-segment SUV category, the Japanese version is built on Toyota’s TNGA platform, whereas the Vietnamese version utilizes the Daihatsu-sourced DNGA platform. The designs and equipment levels of the two models also differ significantly.
