In mid-January, the homepage of Peugeot Vietnam teased an upcoming new model with a “coming soon” status, indicating an imminent launch. Although the design is not clearly visible, the daytime running lights and positioning strip at the front of the car hint at the upcoming B-segment SUV 2008 mid-life facelift that has already been introduced in the international market.
The Peugeot 2008 facelift doesn’t differ drastically in design and dimensions compared to the current model in Vietnam. The length, width, and height remain unchanged at 4,300 x 1,770 x 1,550 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm. The most noticeable exterior changes are concentrated at the front of the vehicle.
The “lion claw” positioning lamps have been refreshed, and the turn signal lights have been subtly adjusted, bearing a strong resemblance to the all-electric e-2008 sold in Europe.

As a mid-life facelift, this B-SUV continues to be powered by a 1.2L gasoline engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing a maximum output of 133 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. In international markets such as Australia and New Zealand, the model is also offered with a mild-hybrid option that combines an electric motor and a 0.9 kWh battery pack integrated into the gearbox.
It is not yet clear whether this version will be introduced by Peugeot in Vietnam this year. Nationwide Peugeot dealers have started accepting reservations for the vehicle in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year holiday, with deliveries promised from February.
According to a sales consultant at Peugeot Dong Nai, the new 2008 is expected to be available in two variants. The starting price is anticipated to exceed 800 million VND, which would represent a 10-20 million VND increase compared to the current model.

The Peugeot 2008 is positioned in the B-SUV segment, a highly competitive category with offerings from Japan, Korea, and China. Despite its launch in 2020, the 2008 has struggled to compete with rivals such as the Lynk & Co 06 (729 million VND), Omoda C5 (589-669 million VND), Toyota Yaris Cross (650-765 million VND), and Mitsubishi Xforce (599-705 million VND) due to its higher price point.
