In a recent interview, BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li expressed her desire to collaborate with Tesla to ‘transform the entire industry.’

The BYD Executive Vice President believes that both companies share a common “rival” in internal combustion engine vehicles.

However, BYD has no intention of joining forces with Tesla to develop a new model. Instead, Ms. Stella Li hopes that major electric vehicle manufacturers will work together to accelerate the transition to clean energy for the entire industry.

Despite this collaborative statement, BYD and Tesla remain direct competitors in the race to become the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer. BYD is currently expanding its market presence in Europe and plans to build production facilities in Hungary and Turkey to mitigate the impact of high import tariffs imposed by the EU on electric vehicles made in China.

BYD is aiming for rapid sales growth for its pure electric vehicles in Europe. The Chinese automaker is confident that it offers a more diverse range of products than Tesla.

However, Ms. Stella Li acknowledged that consumer demand for electric vehicles is slowing down. In response, BYD plans to expand its product portfolio, including the launch of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) Seal U. Additionally, the company also intends to introduce its premium brand, Denza, by the end of this year.
