McLaren Elva: A Speedster’s Journey to Vietnam

The renowned Minh Nhựa, or Mr. Phạm Trần Nhật Minh, has recently announced the arrival of his McLaren Elva in his garage. Notably, after more than a year since leaving the showroom, the Elva has returned to Ho Chi Minh City, now bearing a white license plate starting with 51N.
Minh Nhựa has not disclosed the cost of registering the Elva. To pass the inspection and obtain the white license plate, McLaren made a few modifications to the car to comply with Vietnamese regulations, including adjustments to the windshield and seats.
The McLaren Elva is a speedster designed by the British marque, devoid of a windshield and a roof. The exterior and interior boast a carbon fiber construction, exuding a bold aesthetic while reducing the vehicle’s weight.

The “Elva Wind God” also features a refined exhaust system crafted from Inconel and titanium alloy, enhancing audio quality and boosting engine power through negative pressure reduction.
Under the hood lies a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, derived from the Senna and Senna GTR-R. This powerhouse generates an impressive 810 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The V8 propels the supercar from 0-100 km/h in under three seconds and reaches speeds above 200 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.

McLaren produced only 149 units of the Elva worldwide. The model acquired by Minh Nhựa, bearing the serial number 85/149, features a unique design by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) in collaboration with Hom Nguyen, a French-Vietnamese artist. According to sources, this may be the first Elva in Southeast Asia.
The McLaren Elva starts at 1.69 million USD, but with MSO customizations, Minh Nhựa’s “Wind God” is estimated to have cost around 8 million USD.
