Among the 14 Mercedes-Benz cars on display at the World Coffee Museum in Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak province, over the past few days, the presence of the Mercedes-Benz 560 SL sports car stood out.

The number of Mercedes-Benz 560 SL cars in Vietnam can be counted on one hand, and one of them was recently exhibited in Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak province, during the world’s largest coffee festival held there.

This Mercedes-Benz 560 SL sports a white body with a blue soft top, though the car was originally red.

The Mercedes-Benz 560 SL, produced from 1971 to 1989, features a design that may surprise many as it resembles a coupe sedan with its roof chopped off.

The exterior and interior details remain largely original. According to our research, the SL-Class line of Mercedes-Benz cars has gone through six generations of development since 1954, and the owner of this 560 SL is a big fan of these sports cars.

The Mercedes-Benz 560 SL impresses with its squarish design compared to its predecessors, the 190SL and 230SL. The front grille stretches across the width of the car, with the iconic three-pointed star logo in the center. Round headlights sit at either corner, and the protruding front bumper adds a unique touch.

The reason for the extended front bumper, which adds 203 mm to the length, is to comply with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations for minimal damage in low-speed collisions of up to 8 km/h.

The car sits on a set of multi-spoke alloy wheels. The rear design is simple, featuring large rectangular taillights. A unique feature is the glass panel behind the soft top.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz 560 SL is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces 306 horsepower and 389 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 7.4 seconds.
